While I have quite an extensive collection of cosmetics, I think one of my all-time favorite products would have to be lippies.  I have my fair share of gorgeous lip products I love and I absolutely swoon over new ones that come my way too.  There is not a lipstick, gloss or balm I don’t fancy and I love checking out new brands as well.  Today, well – it’s no exception!  I want to share with you Highlight Cosmetics Liquid Matte Lipstick and hopefully you found something new to check out too.

I was recently introduced to Highlight Cosmetics.  Highlight Cosmetics is a highend brand that was created to express the power of makeup.  Their goal was to contribute to a boost of confidence for all women, all around the world.  They used outer beauty and inner beauty as factors of their inspiration and worked hard to create products that offered quality for their customers, ensuring that each customer is looking and feeling beautiful.

Highlight currently offers 10 gorgeous and vibrant shades of liquid lipstick.  The matte liquid lipsticks are long lasting and non-transferrable leaving your lips smooth with a velvet lipstick.  Highlight’s liquid lipsticks are suitable for all skin tones, and offer ingredients that are high quality, consisting of different oils that will maintain its natural color while helping your lips to retain moisture and smoothness.

I got to try Ruby Royalty – a gorgeous deep burgundy red that is a matte lip with a slight metallic finish.  This lipstick is VERY pigmented, but super smooth and easy to apply.  It has a great soft velvet feel that I’m really enjoying and while it does kiss off, it lasts long on the lips.  I can easily get 4 – 6 hours of wear time with normal fading before I have to touch up.  I’ve been able to eat food and drink without any huge issues and just some fading as well.  After 6 or more hours, while I did have fading, it faded nicely (no weird and funky line on the inside of my lips).  I love that this doesn’t transfer on me, which is a huge thing because my husband doesn’t like lipstick on his lips and he has given me no complaints.  This lipstick doesn’t have that traditional matte liquid lipstick feel and is not drying on the lips at all.  It’s comfortable and offers beautiful opaque pigment so you get one swipe with gorgeous color.

The formula of this lipstick is quite interesting.  If you’re expecting a dry-matte lipstick or something that will dry out your lips, then this is not it.  Since the lipstick has a satin feel – I suggest applying slowly to ensure that you get an even application.  The formula itself has a mousse like texture, kind of like a creamy matte, not a liquid.  I love that this product is definitely comfortable on the lips.  You can feel that it dries down, but it doesn’t leave my lips feeling like I have 100 layers of liquid lipstick on.  My lips are soft and the product is quite light weight.

I would have loved to see a much darker, more deeper toned red in the collection, but I’m hoping that Highlight comes out with many more colors.  Overall, I do really enjoy Ruby Royalty and I’ve already been eyeing some of the other shades in the collection.  You can find a selection of neutrals, reds and pinks available – metallic and completely matte.

The NATURAL infusion of TURMERIC, GREEN TEA, WHITE TEA, SEA KELP, and a BENEFIT PEPTIDE will give your lips a soft, moist, and smooth finish.

Each Highlight Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick retails for $25.00.  The tube of lipstick includes a Net. Wt. of 4g / .14 fl.oz. and is encased in a gorgeous tube.  The packaging is fabulous and I love that it has that faux lipstick look, giving you the impression that you are pulling out an actual lipstick bullet… ha ha, trust me, I did try initially to do so.

Highlight Cosmetics is Made in the USA is cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free and non toxic.

When it comes to Max Factor, it’s a brand name I have used back in my teens and one of the first makeup brands I was interested in because of it’s line of fun and funky eye shadow colors.  It’s funny to think that a brand I hadn’t seen in my local stores in about 10 years holds such a place in my memories… but I remember seeing gorgeous eye shadows in the displays as a teenager and it was an impression I hadn’t easily forgotten.  I’m excited to say however, that Max Factor is returning to the United States, offering their Max Factor USA Capsule Collection and for a limited time, you can get your hands on some of these gorgeous beauties.

Working with Pat McGrath, Global Makeup Artist and Design Director, Max Factor released a limited edition capsule collection that includes four fabulous products:  The Masterpiece Max Mascara, Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eye Liner and two Colour Elixir Lipsticks in Simply Nude 725 and Maroon Dust 735.  This gorgeous collection of treats was released in August (yes, I’m aware that I’m a bit late to the game) and are available to purchase at select Target, Walmart and Walgreens locations (you can also purchase online on Amazon and Drugstore.com for a limited time).  I have just recently started seeing this collection in my local stores as of the end of September, so hopefully it will stick around for my makeup lovers to get their hands on them.

Now, if you are a part of the younger generation of makeup addicts, you may not be familiar with Max Factor or the brand itself.  Let me clear that all up for you…  Max Factor was the original inventor of modern makeup and the very first artist to start his own brand.  The capsule collection that you see here was specifically created to be a limited edition collection to the United States, featuring a select edit of glamour essentials for all beauty lovers.  Since Max Factor didn’t just invent new ways for women to explore and express their glamour, he changed the beauty industry and paved the way for all artists, creators and makers you love and follow today.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

Let’s start with the Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara ($9.99).  A high volume, high definition mascara that offers high impact volume in one swipe.  The brush for this mascara delivers volume and definition to offer bold and thick lashes.  It’s smudge proof and touch proof and I love that it leaves my lashes feeling soft and feathery.  If you are like me and have very sensitive eyes, I think you’ll enjoy this mascara because it is a great one for that purpose.

“Max Factor, Academy Award Winner and Visionary Make-Up Artist, comes a line of make-up that created the most glamorous looks of Hollywood’s Golden Era.”

Now, I have oober sensitive eyes and my lashes are pretty much hiding from the real world.  Because of this, I tend to wear false lashes as much as I possibly can and I’m very particular with my choice of favorite mascara.  The Masterpiece Max Mascara definitely helped to coat my lashes to add length and I like that the wand is small enough to still grab on to my teenie tiny lash hairs.   I do need to wear it layered with another mascara that offers more volume, but nonetheless, it gets the job done and like I mentioned previously, it works great on my sensitive eyes.

The Masterpiece Precision Liquid Eye Liner ($9.99) is a high precision liquid eye liner.  This liner is said to transform your look with a bold, intense liquid liner that will offer the precision of a pencil.  With Black Velvet formula, this liner glides on smoothly and dries quickly.  This liner was created to allow you to create two glamorous looks from one versatile and unique paddle shaped tip.

“You are not born glamorous, Glamour is created!” – Max Factor

Now, I’ve tried a liquid liner from another Drugstore brand similar to this one before and in all honesty, it’s a liner I consistently have used over the last year or so.  So, I wouldn’t call this “unique” since another brand has similar on the market.  I do however, enjoy the formulation of this liner.  If you are looking for bold and black color, you’ll definitely have that here.  The liquid dries really fast, which is always a great thing.  And, I love that you have the option of going thick or thin just by the flick of the wrist to create the look you desire.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

Since I’ve used another eye liner like this one before, I’m quite familiar with how to manipulate the liner to create the looks I want, but I can totally tell you that if you haven’t used anything like this, it may take a bit of getting used to, to get this to work in your favor… unless you are just a pro at getting things down.  If you are looking for a liner that can offer you bold and deep color, I think you’ll enjoy this a lot.  Start with a thin line and carve out your wing or your liner and then turn the liner on the side to color in the gaps… that’s the best way I can explain it to work for you if you are struggling.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

While this is a pen liner, it has a very liquid like consistency, so a light hand is best when applying it.  It dries quickly, but that also means you will need to work pretty fast.  The bold color can give you all day wear, which is great, but that also means that if it does start to move on you, it will be so noticeable because the color is so bold.  While I didn’t notice much smudging or running of the product on my eyes – I can say that if you tear up – it will move on you… so I reserve this liner for days that my allergies are not crazy on me.

The Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks ($13.99 retail – prices vary at different locations) in Maroon Dust and Simply Nude are probably my favorite in this collection of treats from Max Factor.  Let’s face it, I have more lipsticks than any one person should own, but it’s one of my favorite makeup products to have.  These lippies are said to have the same formulation as their original ones but have slightly different packaging from what we had seen from Max Factor before. I actually like the gold packaging, it gives the product a luxe feel.  These lipsticks are said to have “active moisturizing ingredients” to help transform your lips into looking luscious and full as well as giving you that look of smooth, plump and soft lips.  These colors are said to be complimentary, which I actually like since I know I can get use out of each shade.  Maroon Dust reminds me of a nude Terracotta like shade that is perfect for Fall (or year round) and Simply Nude is a gorgeous nude shade you can use daily or year round.  Each of these lippies are quite comfortable on the lips and have a pretty decent wear time.  With eating or drinking, I definitely need to touch up – but considering these are creamy, I still get about 3-4 hours of wear time.  If you tend to have drier lips, I highly suggest exfoliating (sugar scrub or a toothbrush) because these are so creamy they can really exaggerate the lip lines.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

I also think these are quite expensive, even for a roll out of new products – they are still pretty up there in the Drugstore cost range.  If these are too much for you – I would go for Milani Color Statement lipsticks (nude cream being one of old school favorites and a similar shade to Simply Nude).  I’m sure if I look through my vast Milani lipstick collection I’ll find a dupe for Maroon Dust.  Don’t get me wrong, these are gorgeous lippies, but at the cost point, I’m not sure I would gravitate towards purchasing them if I hadn’t tried the formulation out first.  I have however, been getting a lot of use out of both of these shades and I think they look great with Spice Lip liner from Milani.

Max Factor, cosmetics, cult favorites, makeup artist, makeup, beauty, swatches, review, product review, beauty review, swatches,

I’m absolutely ecstatic that I had the opportunity to try this capsule collection.  Let’s be honest here for a moment, there are some brands that I will always remember and will have a place in my heart as those that I have loved at first look.  Max Factor is definitely one of those brands.  I would love to see the entire line make a come back to the United States, but I’m definitely happy that I was able to reminisce of my teenage years with a brand I enjoyed.  Who knows, we may see this brand pop up more in the coming years.

Have you tried anything from this collection?  If so, what was  your favorite?  If not, do you remember Max Factor and seeing it in your local stores?

I know that Summer is coming to an end shortly, but let’s face it, we can use water resistant cosmetics year round – not just during the summer months.  One of my favorite brands offering a variety of water resistant products is Cargo Cosmetics.  Cargo Swimmables collection includes an array of products for anyone and offers great color and high pigmentation for those that are active or just looking for longevity in their makeup.  I’ve been a huge fan of this collection over the years and I’m excited to share a few of my favorites with all of you today.

The Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Blush (0.10 oz / 2.83g – $26.00) and Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer (0.45 oz / 13g – $29.00) are some of my favorites from the collection.  They are blushes and bronzers I have repurchased time and time again over the last 6 years or so and some of my favorites in my entire makeup arsenal.

The Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Blush offers you color that won’t streak or fade and provide you with long lasting sweat-proof and weatherproof color on your cheeks.  I have Bali (a medium rose pink with an iridescent sheen) which is newly added to my collection and Los Cabos (soft tangerine with a coral hue and golden sheen).  I have had Los Cabos for over a year and have purchased it several times for friends that love coral toned blushes.  You get a lot of product in each pan and it is so pigmented a little goes a long way.  Los Cabos offers my cheeks that beautiful glow I love to wear during the summer and is a perfect “every day” blush choice for me.  The powder is silky and has a formula that glides onto the skin for a subtle wash of color that you can easily build up to the intensity you are interested in.  While it appears sheer with one swatch or swipe, you can manipulate the powder easily to provide the coverage you are looking for.

  • Silicone-coated pigments provide better adhesion to the skin and help withstand water for extended wear.
  • L-Lysine, an amino acid found naturally in the skin, helps increase the blush’s long-wearing and water-resistant properties.
  • Paraben free.

The Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer is a silky powder formula that also glides over the skin for a subtle radiant glow.  It is one of my favorite bronzers I own and in fact, I have 4 different bronzers in my collection from Cargo because I always enjoy them.  This bronzer will not streak or fade, is sweat-proof and waterproof too.  It’s natural looking and doesn’t look orange on my skin or change color or oxidize like some bronzers have done to me in the past.  It’s comfortable on and I love that it has a golden sheen to it.  This is not the type of bronzer I would suggest or use for contouring, but it gives my face and body a sunkissed glow that makes me look like a goddess.  It’s one of my favorite bronzers for a reason and I love it.

The Cargo Better Than Waterproof Mascara was something definitely fun for me to try.  Retailing for $20.00 (0.33 fl.oz. / 10 mL), I honestly wasn’t sure how I would like this product.  If you know anything about me, it’s that I prefer waterproof mascaras (though I don’t use them all the time) because my allergies are so bad, a normal mascara usually doesn’t stay in place all day for me.  This mascara states it is “better than waterproof!”  So I honestly wasn’t sure about the claims… until I tried it.  This is truly a water resistant mascara but still gentle enough to be worn on my eyes every day.  It stays put and in place all day long.  Now, I haven’t gone swimming with this mascara yet – but let’s just say, my sweat was rough enough the last few weeks to really give this a good test.

The wand is really basic so I didn’t think it would offer my lashes much of anything… but it did give me some volume and length.  This is the kind of mascara I would particularly select when at the pool or going to the beach and want to make my lashes stand out without putting on a full face of makeup.  It offers a tubing formulation which allows the mascara to stay put during the day, but yet it is easily removed with warm water or gentle pressure.  I was able to remove the mascara with my Garnier Micellar Water (the regular one) and my Simple Micellar Water without any issues.  No heavy eye makeup remover or oil based remover was needed.  No smudging or running and long lasting awesomeness all day long.  I would love to see this formulation with a different wand aimed specifically to help with length and volume too.  The formulation is also quite black which make it stand out nicely on my short lashes.

As most people know, I’m a fanatic for colored eye liners and these Cargo Swimmables Eye Pencils (net wt. 0.04 oz / 1.2g – $18.00) are quite the find.  I have six of the twelve shades available from the line.  Each pencil is creamy (very creamy), waterproof and smudge proof with a formula that glides on with ease.  This product claims that it can last up to 14 hours and while I can only attest to 10 hours of total wear, I do love that they last that long.  I have very watery eyes so a product that can hold up to my teary and watery eyes while still looking vibrant is wonderful.  I love that I can wear the shades on my waterline and they stay without budging.

I haven’t particularly worn these in the pool or ocean and haven’t gone swimming with them but they lasted 10+ hours without the need to touch up through my sweaty days and allergy prone watery eyes without an issue.  I just love how small the tip is and how easy it is to get a precise line, especially since the formula is so creamy, it makes it easy to wear and apply.  Once you apply and let it set, it will stay all day until you take it off.  You can sharpen your pencil (I like twist up pencils better but I’ll take it) and it’s paraben free.

Now, I couldn’t possibly leave out the lippies so I would also like to share with you the Cargo Essential Lip Glosses (0.08 oz / 2.5mL – $16.00) available in 15 shades.  I have three of them in the colors:  Rio, Sahara and Belgium.  Now, if you have been following me a while, then you know I am not a huge fan of lip glosses and I have my select favorites.  These essential lip glosses actually amazed me in that I didn’t expect to like them as much as I do.  They are creamy and moisturizing with a formula that glides over the lips easily and doesn’t feel sticky at all.

Super high shine lip gloss delivers intense, lasting color! The creamy, moisturizing formula glides over lips, and most importantly it never feels sticky.  I’m really liking how these feel on my lips and most importantly, I love how they are not sticky so it makes wearing them easy to do.  Since I haven’t been using matte lippies at all this summer, I’ve been enjoying pairing Sahara with my favorite nude lipsticks to give them a little shine.  These seem to last fairly long on the lips which is a plus and they are also gluten-free and paraben free.

If you’re not into gloss that much or need a great lip liner, don’t worry – I got you covered.  The Cargo Swimmables Lip Pencil (0.04 oz / 1.2g – $18.00) is a long lasting pencil that offers great lip definition, high pigmentation and is waterproof.  It’s pretty long lasting in my opinion.  I love that it sharpens, it’s soft on the lips and applies very easily and I haven’t noticed any feathering or transfer providing me long lasting color.  Through eating and drinking, I have really noticed how long this lasts so it would make a great base for your favorite lip color.  I also love that it sharpens which is a big plus.  I have the color Jaipur which is a nice mauve rose hue that seems to pair well with many of the lip colors I already own and I’ve been enjoying it this summer.

Well, that’s all I have to share with you today.  I have a new palette I ordered from Cargo not too long ago and hope to share that with you here as well.  Overall, I’m always impressed with Cargo Cosmetics and the products they offer.  I have purchased products from Cargo off and on over the years and I’ve always been a fan of their quality.  It’s a shame you don’t hear as much about them as you would other brands, but if you are looking for some great quality products or something new to try, I highly suggest checking them out.  I have been a fan of theirs for over 6 years and it’s always good to see when a brand keeps the quality and improves for the better in time.

I don’t use a lot of makeup during the summer time and lately I have found that I have really been enjoying a simple look – mascara and lip balm.  But, after getting my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, I’ve really been enjoying working with it and creating looks.  Contrary to how it looks, this palette is much more than a pink toned palette like it seems.  I’ve been loving the combination of warm tones to create showstopping looks.  Today I share with you a look I created using mainly this palette with a little pop of color on my lower lash line with ColourPop’s Flower Shop (from their Spring / Summer collection).  I’ll be sharing this look with you as well as swatches of the palette and more.  Be sure to click on the video if you want to chit chat with me and watch me GRWM when I create this look.

Let’s chit chat about this palette first before we get into the whole makeup look, shall we?  The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette retails for $42.00 and includes 14 beautiful shades appropriate for any time of year.  This palette also includes a duo-ended brush to help create those stunning looks.

I purchased this palette with a little help via an online site called Octer.com.  Octer is a cool platform to help with online shopping, making it possible and easy to shop no matter the device you use – whether you’re browsing on your smartphone, tablet or desktop.  Octer lists the biggest US stores and 8,000 brands across all verticals and fashion from everyone like Topshop, ASOS, Farfetch and Net-A-Porter.  Octer has been live since November and has a feature which helps consumers find the right product at the right price.  It’s easy to use and as simple as searching your favorite type of product – housewares, clothes, accessories, makeup and more.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette is an essential eye shadow collection that includes a variety of neutral and berry tones.  It’s the first permanent palette in the ABH line – which I love, since so many of the palettes I own from her were Limited Editions.  This palette includes gorgeously pigmented shades that offer you the opportunity to create endless looks for daytime and evening.  I am absolutely in love with the pigmentation of each color even if some of them did kick up a bit of dust and a little bit of fall out it’s a beautifully pigmented palette.  At first glance, this eye shadow palette looks like it would be too berry or too pink to create many looks, but I have found that I’ve been able to create a variety of looks with the shades.

The palette has faux suede packaging that make it feel really nice and soft and so far it has been easy to clean.  I love that each name is listed under the individual shades – which is always a great thing in any eye shadow palette.  The magnetic closure seals the palette up tightly, but not too tight as to make it difficult to open and close.  The mirror is a good size and this palette really offers a variety of shades for your money and make it a good travel palette.  I’m impressed overall with this palette, the packaging and the shades.

To create my look I used the neutral tones in the Modern Renaissance Palette to create the base of my makeup look.  For the pop of color, I decided that I would use Flower Shop from ColourPop as a little pop of color on the lower lash line.  Of course, you could totally utilize one of the berry shades in it’s place to really make the look pop.

If you are looking for a cool place to check out products from different devices, I definitely suggest checking out Octer.com, I’ve been enjoying the site since being introduced to it and it’s a fun place to check out items all over the web.  It’s not yet a year old, but has come a long way since it started in November.  When it comes to makeup palettes, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette has really won my heart.  The eye shadows are very blendable and pigmented.  Considering the price point, you get gorgeous shades and it’s definitely worth checking out.  Like I mentioned before, while it looks like a palette you may only be able to utilize in the Fall, it’s actually a great neutral palette with pops of color.

Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette?  If not, is it something on your list to check out?  If you have, what are your thoughts on this beauty?  Don’t forget to check out my video for a GRWM and walk through on how I got this makeup look.
