There is absolutely no denying it… when it comes to Colour Pop – I’m absolutely happy, ecstatic and in love with this brand.  Come on now – I own over 50 of their eye shadows and more than 15 of their lippy stix, so it’s quite obvious I have major crush issues.  As soon as I heard that Colour Pop was bringing in blushes, highlighters and bronzers, I had to snatch a few of them up in heart beat.  Last year (2014), I actually used several of my favorite eye shadows from ColourPop as blush and highlighter so knowing I could get the real thing had me dancing in the streets… literally.  I have been playing with some of the new highlighters now for a bit and I wanted to share with you my thoughts on them.  So were the new ColourPop highlighters love at first sight for me?

New Colour Pop Highlighters - Was it Love at First Sight For Me? http://honeygirlsworld.com

I ordered:  Lunch Money, Spoon, Wisp, Most Necessary and Butterfly Beach.  Wisp, Butterfly Beach and Lunch Money all looked like shades that would compliment my warm skin tone and something I could use for a gorgeous highlight for summer and Spoon looked like a shade that I could use year round offering a great highlight for me at night.  Most Necessary – while I thought would be a great blush – I purchased because as I tan in the summer months, it would offer a sunkissed glow.

Each highligher is just $8.00 and comes in the usual ColourPop packaging.  They have 4.2g/0.15oz of product in each and the highlighters have that same mousse like texture we have grown to love with CP.  I find that they are best applied with my fingers, but also enjoy blending them out for a subtle highlight with my ELF Small Stippling brush.  The embossing on these highlighters are different from the blushes, bronzers and shadows and each one I ordered has a gorgeous shimmer and glisten to them.

It’s obvious that I was gonna jump on these as soon as they were released, let’s face it – I’m addicted to the brand and price point… but I had high hopes for these and while they work for me, I was a bit disappointed with them overall.  While my skin is normally dry, as the summer heat hits Hawaii, I find that my skin lends to be a little on the oily side during Summer months.  Because of this – I noticed that when my skin is oilier than usual – these offer a VERY subtle highlight – not nearly what I would expect from a brand I have grown to love.  If I use it on my normal/dry skin – the highlight is deeper and much more pigmented.  While I know these will work well for me as an every day highlight, I find that it still doesn’t give me that “look at that highlight tho” kind of look that I crave.  Honestly, I get better highlight from Girly (a CP shadow) blended onto my cheek bones – then I do with these.  Don’t get me wrong – I’ll still use them and use them often, but I’m disappointed that they are not that “wowzers” kind of highlight I had expected.

I do not use Foundation or Concealer so I’m not sure how these would perform over face products like those.  I find that applying these first and then adding some of my favorite powder highlights like BECCA Shimmering Powder in Moonstone offer a really nice effect.  Keep in mind that I found these highlighters to flop for me when my skin was oily… when my skin was on the drier side, I noticed the highlighters all showed up fairly okay on me, so I don’t know if oily skin is the factor.

ColourPop Cosmetics

In the photo above I am using Lunch Money blended onto my cheek bones, on my cupid’s bow and lightly on the bridge of my nose and forehead.  As you can see – it offers a subtle highlight in this photo.  I am using a moisturizer with SPF so my skin is a little more on the dewy side and even when applied with my fingers or my ELF Small Stippling brush, I found that the color faded on me within a 30 minute time frame.  If I set the highlighter with a powder, it will give me longer staying power and if my skin is dry that day – I can get a few hours of longevity out of each one.

Overall while I’m a bit disappointed with the longevity and staying power of these on oily skin – they worked well with my dry skin and I love the shades I have.  I pull for these a lot because application is fun and easy and I do not have to worry about dirtying a brush to apply them.  I love the color range available from ColourPop and the five shades I ordered are really pretty.  You can’t beat the price and they work well as a base for your powdered highlights.  Are they a complete miss for me?  Nah, I am sure I will make them work… but I think that if you normally have oily skin, these may not give you the pigmentation you would expect of ColourPop.  If you use Foundation/Concealer these may offer you a little longer staying time, but I use these on bare skin.  I have not tried them over a face primer.

ColourPop Bronzer Carry-On

I also wanted to share the one ColourPop bronzer I have in Carry-On.  This bronzer is the perfect shade for me and offers a subtle bronze look.  It’s matte, creamy in texture like the other mousse like products from CP and retails for $8 with 4.2g/0.15oz of product. I am using this bronzer for a subtle/light contour in the photo above and it works.  If I use this bronzer alone, it works well and while it fades, it still gives me that bronze look I desire.  If I apply a powder bronzer over this product, I notice that there can be light oxidation after having the product on for several hours.  Applying this with your finger in the hollows of your cheeks can be a bit of a challenge if not careful so I definitely suggest a synthetic contour brush.

Just figured I would throw this in since it is only one product.  Have you tried any of the highlighters or bronzers from ColourPop?  What are your thoughts on these items if you have?  If not, do you have any on your wishlist?

I’ve been sitting on some new Jordana Cosmetics products now for a few months and little by little a few of these have been appearing here on the blog or in makeup looks and tutorials on YouTube, but I haven’t really posted about them in a whole.  Today I figured I would share a few of them with all of you in the case that you decide you want to check them out for yourself.

Get the whole run down and a little chit chat in my recent video which you can watch embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.

Rainbow Cateyes with Jordana's Cat eye Liners http://honeygirlsworld.com

First on my list are the Jordana Cat Eyes Liquid Eye liners.  I discussed these on my blog a week or so ago and also listed swatches which you’ll find here.  These are just $2.99 and come in fun colors for those summer looks that are not only bright and playful but runway ready.  These shades are fun, funky and I love the price point.

Jordana Jordana Color Tint Blush Sticks

Next up are the Jordana Color Tint Blush Sticks.  I have six out of the twelve shades that are available and these are priced just as awesome as the eyeliners.  At just $2.99 each, these make great cream blushes or a base for your favorite powder blush.  While they apply smoothly and I enjoy how nicely they blend on the skin, I find blending with my finger is probably the best bet in application and these do really well as a base offering good longevity.

Left to Right – 10 Sunkissed, 11 Rouge Romance, 12 Golden Sheen
Jordana Jordana Color Tint Blush Sticks
Left to Right: 07 Baby Pink, 08 Hot Hot Hot, 09 Peach Nectar

If you wear these on its own – they will give you a great flush of color (or vibrant color depending on the amount you apply) but they will fade.  The color will last – but you may need to apply.  Nonetheless, these are fab for the price point and I love using them.

Jordana Dramatic Effects Mascara

Another fun addition to Jordana’s every growing line up are the Jordana Dramatic Effects Mascaras.  These come in fun and bold shades and retail for $2.99.  I was really excited to check these out and as much as I loved the bold colors, unfortunately – due to my small eye lashes, the brush was not ideal for applying as I would regular mascara.  They didn’t show up on my lashes as well as I had hoped so I had to find another purpose for them.  I took out the shades and tested them on my hair and found that they worked well as a temporary brush in color.

Jordana Dramatic Effects Mascara

The dramatic effects mascaras applied easily to my hair with one swipe and worked just as other “hair mascaras” have in the past for me.  While this may not have been the thought behind them when it was formulated, it’s the only way I can get use out of these.  It’s not Jordana’s fault that I have short itty bitty lashes – so I just make due in anyway I can.  Just a quick note for anyone who uses it this way – while the colors did wash out when I shampooed my hair, the green shades or blues may take a little effort in taking the color off.  It didn’t stain or ruin my hair, but did take a little more elbow work to get it off.  I find soaking my hair with a hair mask makes it easy and effortless to remove.

I did post a full review on the Jordana Modern Matte lipsticks – however, new colors were released around the same time as these products.  You can find swatches on the new shades here and my thoughts and swatches on the original release here.

Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks

These new products can be found at various stores like Walgreens and CVS (I’ve been seeing them pop up here in my local stores) and you may also find them at your nearest Kmart.  Of course – check out jordanacosmetics.com because all of these products can also be purchased online.  Have you tried any of these yet?  What are your thoughts on them?  Don’t forget to stop by my video as I chit chat about the products – click here.

Ah, yes… I bring to you another Colour Pop swatch fest.  There is absolutely no denying it – it has easily become one of my favorite brands that I find I will head over to Colour Pop to see what is new versus over to Sephora’s website like I would normally do.  Today I bring to you the Shaaanxo x ColourPop collection.  I have been a huge fan of Shaaanxo for a few years now and was really excited to get my hands on this new collection rolled out by Colour Pop last year (2014).  I have been sitting on these gorgeous shades for quite a few months and I’m finally finding the time to share them with you.  Since the collection is still available on Colour Pop’s site, I figured it would be a great time to stop by and check them out.  While these shades make great ones for Fall and Winter months, I love that they give off that almost beachy vibe and thought they would make great Summer hues to pop on those gorgeous peepers of yours.  So – let’s get started.

Say Hello To Summer Shades With Shaaanxo x ColourPop http://honeygirlsworld.com

The Shaaanxo X Colorpop collection consists of four shades that were selected by Shaaanxo on YouTube.  This bundle of colors were selected to allow you to create a multitude of looks using just four shades.  The eye shadows are packaged together like a little quad and retail for $20 on Colourpop’s website.

  • XO: A Light Champagne shade with a pearlized finish
  • Selfie: Mid-tone peachy brown shade with a matte finish
  • Rebel: Mid-tone khaki green with a matte finish
  • Deluxe: warm red bronze with a pearlized finish

Like with other products I have reviewed and talked about from Colourpop – these shadows have that same buttery, creamy texture – almost mousse like and are very pigmented, offering huge color pay off in just one swipe.  But, as I discussed in previous posts – using these with a brush can be a bit of a challenge.  It is best to apply with your fingers and then use a synthetic brush to blend the shadows appropriately.  You can also use a small detailed shadow brush to apply in the smaller areas.  However the best color pay off is received with applying with your fingers.

Say Hello To Summer Shades With Shaaanxo x ColourPop http://honeygirlsworld.com

At first glance, these gorgeous colors definitely lend for a Fall shade range and I totally agree they would make a great collection for your fall looks.  However, after playing around and trying new looks with these, I find that the colors are perfect for those Summer looks that give that effortless vibe.  XO is a great inner corner highlight shade and can be used on it’s own to attract light to your eyes while showcasing just your lashes or your lips.  But if you are looking to bump up the look even more, try using Rebel all over the lid or run it along your lower lash line for a soft pop of color that brings out your gorgeous peepers.  Deluxe and Selfie work well together and when used in the same eye look can create a gorgeous bronze smoky eye perfect for those summer nights when you want a little drama and each color works well all over the lid or even blended together to create the perfect summer look.  While these shades are not traditional summer shades – they definitely will be my choice for the summer months.

*Quick note… Rebel can stain if you are using without a primer beneath the shadow.  It won’t have a long staining power – but sometimes may need a little more elbow power to remove it.  It’s nothing drastic though.

Say Hello To Summer Shades With Shaaanxo x ColourPop http://honeygirlsworld.com

My love for ColourPop cosmetics started around this time last year and I have since built quite a collection of shades for year round but I find that if you love neutral tones but want something a little more, this collection from Shaaanxo would be a great buy.  Every color you need to create one look or a plethora of them is included in this little quad of goodies.  I especially love that Colourpop has been including matte shades and increasing their matte shades available which make creating looks easier than ever.  When I first purchased from the brand last year, they didn’t offer any matte shades and this way – creating a “one brand look” is now simpler than before.  I’m not sure how long the Shaaanxo X Colourpop collection will remain available for purchase, but I definitely think it is gorgeous and I urge anyone to pick it up.

If you haven’t tried anything from Colourpop before and are a little intimidated by the color choices available, I think you would absolutely love this set.  Don’t forget to check out my other posts regarding other shadows and lippies available from Colourpop as well – which include swatches and all (links below).

Pure Love - Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette and Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes

It is always so exciting to see gorgeous Summery shades hit the stores for the season and I’m always immediately reminded of how much I love the summer months.  Pacifica Beauty does it again with their Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette that boasts gorgeous summery shades that remind me of the beach and the cool ocean breeze that Hawaii experiences each year.  The Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette ($19.99) sports 10 coconut-infused mineral eye shadows that are velvety and smooth.

Pure Love - Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette and Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes

This palette includes a variety of neutrals with a few pops of color for that boho chic or beachy look that you can wear year round, but especially during summer.  The 10 shades are on-trend and easy to wear – named:  Mysterious, Bare, Falling Star, Spirited, Devoted, Shine On, Treasure, Crush, Soul and Luna.  The palette is recyclable and housed in a beautiful box with fun prints that are made with soy ink.

Over a good base or primer, these shadows offer pretty nice staying power – about 7-8 hours easily and the colors can be built up for a bold look if you so choose.  These shadows are Cruelty Free and 100% Vegan – made without animal ingredients like Carmine, Beeswax and Lanolin.  I love the shades and think this palette is a nifty size, perfect for travel.  I wish it included a mirror and the names of the shadows were listed on the palette itself so I knew what to call them, but regardless, I’m quite impressed having not tried any eye shadow palettes from Pacifica before.  Some of the shadows did take a little for me to built up on – but I also have darker / tanned skin so that may have some to do with it.  The Taupe and Bronze shades are my favorite and I find that the dark blue, burgundy and turquoise have the best color payoff when applied wet.  Overall – not bad for the price and I love that it is so easily available at your local Target.

Pure Love - Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette and Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes

Another product I wanted to discuss today are the Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes. Retailing for $6.99 – these coconut milk infused natural towelettes gently cleanse and wipe away makeup, excess oil, dirt and daily pollutants.  These wipes include Jojoba Oil and Ale Vera which make these wipes great for all skin types.  With my sensitive skin, I find that these have a warming sensation when used near my eyes, but they did not burn or cause me any sensitivity issues – which I like.  They did remove my makeup fairly easily, but my waterproof mascara was a little more difficult to take off.  They smell like coconut – hello bonus! And, I love the easy and convenient packaging, which make them a grab when on the go and the packaging is totally cute.  I love how it matches the palette – super fun!

Pure Love - Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette and Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes

This fun and new collection called The Power of Love was made exclusively for Target Stores Nationwide as a part of the Made to Matter Program.  I have spotted these at my local Target already, so you should be able to find them at your store.  This collection is about the core value:  Compassion.  With compassion (and love), Pacifica takes women, animals and the planet into consideration with every product they create.  The Made to Matter products are handpicked by Target as a part of a collection of leading natural, organic and sustainable brands.  This is an awesome program and I have enjoyed trying these two products from Pacifica.

Have you tried any of these products yet?  Have you spotted them at your local Target store?  I hope you enjoyed this little post and share.  Have a fabulous week!

Happy Monday.  I haven’t been using much makeup lately, since I’ve been on mommy mode and a bit lazy, but since it’s Monday, I figured for Makeup Monday I would share a palette that I’ve been enjoying.  I have been a huge fan of Missy Lynn (Start2FinishMUA) for quite a while and was excited with the release of her Missy Lynn palette a few months ago through BH Cosmetics.  I purchased it immediately after it was released and I wanted to share my thoughts on this palette with you.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette

“Start with Confidence.

Finish with Success.”

– Missy Lynn

For those who don’t know, Missy Lynn, otherwise known as Start2FinishMUA (via YouTube and social media) has been a YouTube Beauty Guru now for quite some time and winner of the NYX Face Awards 2013.  I started watching Missy Lynn years ago when she first started on YouTube and have been a fan since.  An active Military member by day and Glam diva by night.

The BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Eyeshadow and Baked Highlighter Palette retails for $18.95 (CURRENTLY ON SALE FOR $11.95) and includes six (6) large sized eye shadows and two (2) baked highlighters.  This palette boasts shades that can be used on any skin tone (which I love), and can take the wearer from a day-to-night look easily.   It is a limited edition palette so I wanted to share it with all of you should you decide you want to pick it up.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette

The purple, gold and bronze shades in this palette have really made it a winner for me to use.  The colors offer nice pigment and I like that there are a blend of satin and metallic type shades.  The highlighters in the palette also do double duty for eye shadow shades as well.  I think overall this palette will offer anyone something perfect for on the go (it travels really nicely) and while the shades are pigmented, they can also be worn sheer or softer with a light hand.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette Swatches

I have noticed lately that a lot of makeup palettes I’ve been purchasing have had issues with a layer on the top of them that require me to take a tissue or paper towel and lightly wipe the top layer.  This was definitely the case in this palette, especially for the lighter shades.  At initial swatch, before using the napkin to remove the top layer, testing the product yielded light pigmentation.  After using the napkin however, each color picked up nicely and the pigmentation of each shadow was definitely there.  The darker shades and those that have metallic texture are the ones that are buttery and offer high color payoff off the bat, where as the satin and lighter shades took a bit to build up on – but that was just initially.  I find that they work well now after using it a few times.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette Swatches

The highlighter shades are gorgeous and really pigmented.  They blend out nicely and are not as powdery as I would expect a baked anything to be.  They wear nicely wet as a foiled shadow but I’ve been enjoying them as a soft highlight on my cheek bones.  Highlighter swatches are done dry on bare skin, no primer used.  Each photo was taken in natural lighting.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette
Since wearing makeup has been non-existent for me lately, I only have a cellphie (cell phone selfie) photo to share.  But overall you can see how nicely the shades look against my skin.  The highlighter did not pull up nicely in the photo, but don’t worry – it was still very prominent and my cheek bones were absolutely stunning.  My favorite highlight is the rose gold… with a soft fluffy brush, it offers a perfect highlight for my skin tone every time.

This palette is allergy and clinically tested which make it a plus for this lady who has sensitive skin.  I love that it is not only non-irritating, but it is also Cruelty Free.

BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Palette

I have been a long time fan of BH Cosmetics palettes as they offer some good products for great price points.  This palette is fun and I love that the packaging really says a lot about who Missy Lynn is… the chains and dog tag represent her being an active military member and it’s still girly which is the type of person Missy Lynn is.  This is definitely a fun palette to have in any collection and I know I’ll be getting some use out of it for sure.
Have you used products from BH Cosmetics before?  If you have, what are your favorites?  If you haven’t, what do you have your eye on if anything?
