It’s been over a year since I last wore my hair straight so I really wanted to do so while trying out a “new to me” product. Today, I introduce to you the Instyler Straight Up Ceramic Straightening Brush. I’m writing this post a week after I actually filmed the demo video (posted below), so I also have a photo of what my hair looks like after a few days of wearing it straight.
So, the Instyler Straight Up Ceramic Straightening Brush retails for $59.99 at our local Ulta Store, which is where we picked it up. It claims to smooth, straighten and give you frizz-free hair in half the time it takes to use a flat iron.
Instyler Straight Up Details
65 Powerful Ceramic Heated Plates
7 Heat Settings from 330 degrees F to 450 degrees F
Cool Tip Ionic Bristles
Digital Temperature Display
Professional Swivel Cord
Automatic Shut Off
I used the Straight Up in my demo directly out of the box and did not read directions or tips on how to use the tool. I definitely suggest reading up on it prior and don’t do as I did. The tool itself heated up almost instantly and after less than a minute it was ready to be used.
I love that the Straight Up has a swivel cord, but would have liked it to have a longer cord altogether because some of my plugs in my house are near to the floor and I stand up when I straighten my hair. As I mentioned before, the tool heated up very quickly and while there are definitely hot spots on the brush, it was very comfortable to use and I could get on the top of my head without burning my scalp. Holding the brush takes a little getting used to, mainly because of the cord, but ultimately it was easy to grasp.
If you are looking for something like a flat iron but with minimal effort, I think you’ll enjoy this tool as much as I did. After my initial use, my hair stayed fairly straight without touching up for at least a week.
As you can see from the image below, the hair at the nape of my neck as well as the underneath began to get curly fastest, which is normal with me using a flat iron as well. I took this photo 5 days after initially using the Straight Up on my hair. It still had shine (not greasy) and I was still able to wear it down.
Overall, I think the Straight Up by Instyler is a great buy and a nice value considering it tackled my very long and curly hair. I would definitely recommend it and I like the ease of use. I may not be using it properly, but I like that it’s as simple as brushing through my hair.
Have you tried the Instyler Straight Up? If so, what are your thoughts on this product?

I’m super excited to share with you a few products from a company that I’ve been loving lately. Have you ever heard of Grace Eleyae? If you’re a curly haired gal and you haven’t heard of this brand before, I definitely suggest checking it out. I’ve used various hair bonnets and satin products over the years, but the ones I have tried from Grace Eleyae are now my favorites to protect my curly hair with.
As I mentioned previously, I have used various satin lined or satin caps and other products to help protect my curly hair, but recently was introduced to Grace Eleyae. Said to be the “Home of the original satin lined cap”, the Slap (Satin-Lined Cap) was created to help fight dry hair, bedhead and time-sucking/inefficient hair processes.
Grace’s goal is to provide women with confidence by offering these solutions for the busy multi-taskers who want to look and feel confident while investing in being their best, most beautiful selves.
Whether you have curly hair or straight hair, long or short, healthy hair needs adequate moisture. Satin is a material that does not absorb moisture like cotton or other types of fabrics. Satin allows your hair and skin do basically do what it was created to do – produce it’s own protective moisture to keep itself healthy and strong.
Using satin protects your hair from the moisture absorbing materials and also helps to protect against harsh weather and conditions – sunlight, snow, dry heat, freezing winds, hair dye, heat from straighteners and blow driers. Basically, anything and everything that can dry your hair out.
Using satin can help to keep your hair moisturized (skin too) while limiting breakage and combating frizz. I especially love that it helps to prolong my hair style (more time in between washes) and it preserves my curls so that my hair looks shinier, healthier and I have a lot less tangles. Satin allows your hair to repair itself, so whatever oils or deep conditioning you use, your hair can truly fully absorb the healing properties to it’s fullest ability.
I’ve been using the Grace Eleyae Satin-Lined cap, satin pillowcase and satin scrunchies for the last few months now. Each of these products have been essential in keeping my hair looking fresh while also preserving all of my curls and eliminating frizz. They are essential in my nightly sleep routine and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Because of Grace Eleyae products, my hair feels softer and I love that I have less tangles. Since my hair is so long (passed my buttocks), I use the scrunchie to pull my hair up in a pineapple. Then I use the Slap to protect it. Since I move around a lot in bed, I sleep on the satin pillowcase to help eliminate frizz. My skin also loves the satin pillow and I love that it’s cool and comfy to sleep on as well.
“My hair feels and looks so healthy now that I’ve been using Grace Eleyae Satin products. It’s definitely a game changer.”
I highly suggest trying out Grace Eleyae products to protect your hair. They offer fashionable pieces that you can use while out and about or during the night to protect your hair styles. I’m loving them, and I think you’ll definitely enjoy them too.

About two months ago I received a fun package in the mail. In the package was the Sleep Styler in Large. Let’s just say I was super excited and couldn’t wait to try it out. She Sleep Styler was featured and backed by Lori Greiner from ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank. Now, I watch Shark Tank so you can only imagine how gitty I was to try another product from Shark Tank once again. What made me more excited to try this out, is that I actually watched this episode of Shark Tank when The Sleep Styler was featured and I was definitely swooning over the product before it landed at my door step.
The Sleep Styler was invented by Tara Brown. As a mother who also worked, her goal was to be able to cut down the drying time and styling time for her hair so her routine wouldn’t be as lengthy. The Sleep Styler curls your hair while you sleep and helps to save an hour of styling time. You can achieve beautiful styles with effortless work and it’s perfect for heat free styling. Each roller is marshmallow soft with a memory-foam core that makes it comfortable to sleep in and each microfiber material holds 4-5 times its weight in water, drying the hair super fast.
If you’ve been reading my blog or stopping by now and then, you know that I have naturally curly hair. My curl pattern ranges between a 2c 3a and on a good day, 3a 3b if I have been caring for my hair properly. It’s taken me a while to get my hair back to where I want it and I’ve finally embraced my curls, but that also means that I try to use as little heat on my hair as possible. I really became excited about this product when I find out that it was a hair styling system that not only saves time and money, but it doesn’t cause any damage to the hair.
Using this product means that I truly need to take my time learning how to use it. The first time I used it, I tried to take my curls and make them straight. My hair at the time was past my buttocks in length and it was near to impossible to get all of my hair onto two of the rollers (stacked on each other). I had parts of my hair (my lengths) that looked straight, while other parts still had curl and frizz.
After trying that and knowing that I just couldn’t make it work with my long hair, I figured I would test out the curly method. Large barrel and voluminous curls are great for that glam and beachy look so I figured I would test it out and see how it worked for me.
It was interesting and you can see me put on the rollers in this video demo here.
Putting the Sleep Styler in my long hair was a challenge, but I love that the product itself is lightweight. The rollers are really soft and while I struggled to sleep with it the first time I used it to curl my hair, I tried it again and it worked well (so long as I didn’t use my CPAP mask). I also cut off about 7 inches from my hair last week and found it to be much easier than when I tried to curl my hair with it originally.
As you can see from the photo above, it left my curls quite smooth and larger in size from my smaller and tighter natural curls. I loved that it locked in the fragrance I had on my hair from shampoo and conditioner and my hair was left shiny and had a lot less frizz. The Sleep Styler’s 100% micro fiber materials absorbed the moisture in my hair while remaining dry to the touch and it is perfect for bombshell curls that are voluminous and full.
While the longer rollers are meant for long hair, I did notice that it still left the hair near the crown of my head a bit bare. I used one and a half packages of rollers on my hair but felt like I could have used it differently or used some of the small rollers on the top of my head for maximum coverage.
Overall, I think the product is genius. I have been using it on nights when I just don’t have the time to let my hair sit and dry naturally. It’s been awesome just for drying my hair, but it also works really nicely to help smooth out my hair length so it’s not as frizzy. When I want an easy style without the fuss, I will use this to help with a no mess, no heat look. I’ve been using this product now for about two months (the video demo was filmed about 3 weeks ago) and have found what works and what doesn’t. Of course, I can’t use my CPAP mask on nights I have the Sleep Styler in, but I find that I can still get lots of use out of this product and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I think my nieces would love this as well as my sisters and it’s perfect for those who are always on the go.
Head on over to my demo here or check out the video embedded for a look at how I put on this product to create curls for the first time. Plus, I get real with all of you as we chit chat about how it worked for me.
You can check out all the details on this product and purchase your own at https://www.thesleepstyler.com
Have you checked out or tried the Sleep Styler before? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, do you think this may be something you’ll sneak a peak at?

The Hydrating Argan Oil Mask is by far one of my favorites to help restore my hair, adding shine and hydrating my hair after the summer months. The Nourishing Conditioner works wonders for me with co-washing my locks and when I need a good clean, the shampoo is definitely the one I enjoy because it cleans my hair well without stripping all of its natural moisture.

Easy Hair Styling – Charlie Curls: I’m all about simplicity when it comes to hair, especially since my natural hair is curly. Recently I came across a cool product that I thought anyone could enjoy – long hair, medium length hair, you name it. Developed by Kris and her daughter Ciera – CharlieCurls is a one-piece hair curler that takes 30 seconds to put in. Simply bend over, roll it up and forget it. Leave it in for a few hours to see beautiful waves or all night for impressive curls. There is no heat or tedious hair rollers required that take forever and these are so easy to sleep on too.

Hair Care for your Fur Baby – Isle of the Dogs CocoClean Natural Xtra Clean Shampoo and Detangling Conditioner: I know this may not be a traditional product to list in a gift guide. But, I didn’t say this guide was specifically just for humans. If you put presents under the tree for your fur baby like we do, I think these products would be a great hit. Ikaika is our King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and he is part of our family. He is not a fan of taking a bath, but absolutely loves CocoClean products. First of all – these products smell great so we as a family enjoy them and second, these products leave Ikaika’s coat feeling so soft and manageable. Since Ikaika has long hair, it’s important that we keep his tangles at bay and these products not only keep him smelling great, but leave his hair so soft which makes brushing a breeze. If you are looking for something new to gift your furry friend this holiday – I definitely suggest checking out this line, it’s awesome.

Today I’m gonna start my blog post off with a little story, so grab you something to drink, sit tight and read on. As a child, I absolutely hated my hair, among other things that most girls are not very happy with on their bodies. I developed my woman parts earlier than most so they stuck out and I had to use a bra before other girls did, my hair was difficult to manage and to top it all off – I came from a family that lived paycheck to paycheck, struggling to make ends meet. Growing up was a challenge, as it is for most girls – but for me, I not only dealt with bullying, but I had to fight for my right to be who I am. I later realized that I needed to truly love myself in order for others to see who I was and that bullying (while wrong and a terrible thing for anyone to go through), happens more times than not. My story (the very short version of it) was shared with you today because it offers me a connection between my life and that of Vanessa’s Essence. This natural and organic hair care line was was developed by a mother who reacted to her child Vanessa’s experience of being bullied and she was inspired to do something positive for other girls. The gap in availability of natural hair care products for girls can be a challenge to find and the companies goal is to not only encourage young girls to love themselves and be who they are naturally, but to also stop the bullying by starting conversations that raise awareness of the serious consequences of bullying. Today – I share with you Vanessa’s Essence.
Vanessa’s Essence is a hair care line that offers a variety of products that are geared to help young girls with wavy, curly, coily and afro-textured hair and assist them in understanding their hair and loving what they were given naturally. Vanessa’s Essence worked with experts to develop a special line of natural hair care products just for girls. The finest natural and organic ingredients were formulated to create products that work best for thick, curly, coily, kinky and wavy hair. The products are compliant with US Food and Drug Administration Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards and come with nourishing ingredients that you and your hair will love.
Ingredients like: Organic Coconut Oil infused with Grape Seed Oil, Capuacu Butter, Organic Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Mango Butter, Manuka Honey and Yucca Leaf Extract help to keep your hair moisturized, frizz free and easy to manage.
I had the opportunity to the try the following products: Lovely Locks Hair Milk, Clean my Koils 2 in 1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Knot Dry Revitalizing Moisture Cocktail and Let’s Hear It For The Kurls Hair Jelly Curl Definer. I’m going to share with you each product and let you know how each one worked for me.
Lovely Locks Hair Milk $17.39 / 8oz – nourishes your curls by locking in moisture and giving it a gorgeous shine. It’s perfected to style 3 and 4 type kinky curls in need of a light twisting styler and adds the much needed moisture your hair craves. It’s a creamy leave-in conditioner that I apply after my shampoo/conditioner and hair mask while my hair is still damp. I also apply on dry hair when I need a little extra something but rather use it when my hair is wet.
Formulated with Organic Aloe Juice that acts as a natural conditioner to help nourish your hair follicles, while rice bran oil stimulate hair growth and help prevent split ends if used regularly. Shea Butter helps to sooth, shield and protect your hair from dust and heat and keep your hair silky soft and smooth. The Lovely Locks Hair Milk smells great too and I love how my hair feels after using it.
Klean My Koils 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner $19.00 / 8oz – Of course a good clean for our hair is always a wonderful thing. Ideal for dry hair types – this product helps infuse your hair with hydration while cleansing with a light lather. I have noticed that after using this product my hair feels light and has so much shine and luster. My hair feels clean, looks fabulous but it doesn’t sacrifice my curls while drying out my hair like other cleansers can do.
The core ingredients used in the product accelerate hair growth and heal damaged hair. They include Organic Aloe Juice, Shea Butter and Peppermint Leaf Extract, which alleviate dandruff and dryness. Yucca, Horsetail, Nettle and Melissa Leaf Extracts help in addressing hair loss. The Soybean Oil helps the nutrients absorb more fully into your hair. Distillates of Sour Cherry and Grapefruit act as a deodorizer, cleanser and detangler, strengthening hair follicles and stripping hair of damaging chemicals. Another core ingredient, Witch Hazel Distillate (Witch Hazel Distillate is a clear, colorless botanical extracts prepared from the recently cut and partially dried, dormant twigs of the Hamamelis Virginiana Linne plant) delivers bounce and volume, Pro Vitamin B5 locks in the moisture and Pomegranate Seed Extract adds luster to dull hair. The high antioxidant and vitamin content of Pomegranate Seed Extract helps to increase the blood circulation in the scalp, strengthen blood vessels and thereby promote healthy hair growth. You can experience the results over the long-term.
Knot Dry Revitalizing Moisture Cocktail $16.95 / 8oz – this product has easily become one of my favorite hair care products. My hair tangles all the time because of my curls, the weather and of course, because I can’t figure out whether to wear my hair up or down. I’m always looking for something to help detangle my hair while leaving it feeling soft and silky too. This product provides my hair with much needed moisture to help with handling and detangling so that detangling my hair doesn’t hurt and a can run my fingers or a comb through my hair easily. It provides hydration to my hair while leaving it looking glossy (not greasy) and offering shine.
The enzymes, vitamins and minerals in the Organic Aloe Leaf Juice promote growth and condition from within, and Honey heals damaged hair. Coconut Fruit Juice improves blood circulation in the scalp and enhances the density of hair and strengthens the hair follicles, which prevents it from breaking. Organic Green Tea has antioxidants, and its anti-inflammatory properties help to stop hair loss and promote the growth of new hair. Knot Dry also Organic Cranberry Extract which is known to be good to grow long and lustrous hair. It also promotes hair growth and prevents hair loss. The Vitamin C and Vitamin A in cranberry increases the growth of hair and keep the hair strong. The anti-fungal and antiseptic properties of cranberry helps to prevent the formation of dandruff. There is a light fragrance to this product, but it’s not overpowering at all.
Let’s Hear It For The Kurls Hair Jelly Curl Definer $18.00 / 8oz. – This product is a favorite among girls with 2 and 3 type curls/hair. It helps to accentuate and enhance your natural curls so you can embrace and love the hair you’re born with. This hair Jelly is one of my favorite products as well since it helps to condition my curls, leaving them looking like they have been revived and brought alive. I find that this is perfect to add to my hair after I have just washed it or when I need to revive my curls and twist them up some. It helps to tame my frizzles without adding stiff, crunchy hair and it is not sticky at all. You get medium hold that you can still run your fingers through.
Agave Nectar and Manuka Honey help define and condition your curls, prevent split ends, fight frizz and remove build up on the scalp. Vitamin B5 minimizes hair loss and promotes hair growth. Combined together, the ingredients strengthen hair follicles and nourish hair from root to tip.
I have come a long way in this hair journey of mine. While my hair is not perfect, I can honestly say that after years and years of hating it and hating how curly it was – wishing for straight locks like my friends, I’ve finally embraced my natural curls. I can only hope that my love for my hair will increase over time and that I’ll love it even more.
I can honestly say that after using and testing out Vanessa’s Essence Hair Care products over the last several months, in combination with some of my other hair care faves, I’ve fallen in love with them. When you try a product and immediately notice how different your hair feels and looks, you know that it is something good and great and you must hold onto it. I will be a lifelong customer of Vanessa’s Essence and can’t wait to replenish my product stash with more. The products are costly, but I have used SO MANY hair products in the past with similar price tags and even heftier ones that haven’t nourished and moisturized my hair the way these do.
As an adult, I have learned so many great and inspiring things – like how to love myself. Things like that are not taught, but have to be learned when you come to terms with who you are and figure out how to embrace it. I love that Vanessa’s Essence strives to work with young girls so that they can love their natural beauty because I know that young Honey could have used something like this many years ago. Sometimes, just a few words of encouragement, a smile and great hair can go a long way.

“This post is sponsored by Nexxus New York Salon Care, a product of Unilever, as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.”
As a blogger, I have tried many (more than I could ever count) hair products over the years. With hair as long as mine, I tend to try different products in different price ranges to see what works for me. Let’s face it, curly hair, short hair, long hair or straight hair – no matter the type, hair can be a challenge to figure out. Well, my hair is a beast, all on its own. It’s long, curly and can be my worst nightmare sometimes. I’m constantly pleading with it to give me a break and I’m always looking for products that will help mend my “hair relationship” to make my job a bit easier. I have a love hate relationship with my locks and as much as I take time taking care of myself and taking pride in my well being and health, I need products that will pamper my hair for me. Nexxus New York Salon Care hair products give me salon-quality ingredients for lustrous and beautiful locks and today I’m going to share with you which products give me this option from the comfort of my home.
Nexxus New York Salon Care offers a variety of products to suit your hair care needs. Let’s start off with the base of any hair care routine – the Shampoo & Conditioner. Nexxus New York Salon Care THERAPPE Replenishing System Shampoo is Silicone Free and includes the Caviar Complex and concentrated 100% Pure Elastin Protein. THERAPPE Rebalancing Shampoo cleanses your hair while nourishing it from deep within. This shampoo has been a lifesaver on my summer locks, since the warm Hawaii weather tend to do damage on my hair. After the first use, I noticed my hair shaft feels softer and stronger with less breakage. Since my color fades the quickest in the summer, I noticed that my hair has kept its color vibrant and shiny. Since all Nexxus shampoos are silicone free, I am thankful that I do not have to worry about my curls getting dried out or lacking moisture. My hair is balanced, nourished and protected.
Next I used the Nexxus New York Salon Care Humectress Replenishing System Conditioner. This conditioner with Caviar Complex and concentrated protein is the perfect addition to the Shampoo in the Caviar Complex System. This shampoo leaves my hair soft and silky while restoring a protective barrier after my hair has taken a beating from the warm weather. Working hand in hand with the THERAPPE Replenishing System Shampoo, this product is the perfect sister for treating your locks. I love the way this conditioner moves through my hair. It has the perfect amount of slip to coat each of my strands of hair while allowing me to finger comb through my hair to detangle. Each strand of hair is left moisturized and hydrated while leaving my curls bouncy and soft.
Since my hair is already long and heavy, a leave in conditioner can often weigh down my locks. That’s where the Nexxus New York Salon Care Humectress Luxe Replenishing System Light Weight Conditioning Mist comes in. The best friend to any one who has curly hair like I do – this product is a must have. This lightweight – well, weightless actually, conditioning mist conditions the hair surface while releasing shine and improving manageability. I absolutely love this product. I use it in my hair after shampoo and conditioning and once my hair has been towel dried. I like to add it to my hair when my hair is slightly damp. I apply through my hair started from the ends and working my way up to the roots and then if I really need to – I will comb through to distribute the product. Usually – I can work through my hair and let it air dry. This product leaves my hair soft and silky while helping to really drench my hair in much needed moisture. When I use this product, I have noticed that my hair doesn’t feel so brittle and I get less breakage than before. Not to mention, my tangles are at a minimum – major win there!
Of course, if you are anything like me, then you may also add a masque to your hair treatment now and then. Nexxus New York Salon Care has your covered with their HUMECTRESS Replenishing System Masque. It has their Caviar Complex and concentrated protein to leave your hair looking stunning. This mask is rich in Glycerin and infused at a level that deeply hydrates by binding moisture within the hair. Used in combination with the other products in this line, this mask helps to release true alignment for hair that moves as you do with liquid fluidity. This masque is used as a Step 2 in the process, before your conditioner absolutely LOVE the texture of this masque. It’s thick and butter like and I feel like it instantly infuses into my hair when I’m applying it. Did I mention I love this masque? After the first use of this product my hair felt like it was living a whole new life and I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.
When you have hair as long and as curly as mine is, you definitely want to ensure that you not only treat it to the right products, but make sure you are keeping your lustrous locks happy. I love products that offer my hair salon-quality ingredients that leave my hair looking fluid, enriched and absolutely beautiful. The Nexxus New York Salon Care products are just what I need to bring out the “just left the salon” look and add that extra bounce in my step. I love how soft and gorgeous my hair feels after each use and how happy my curls feel that they are infused with moisture to keep them looking fresh, bouncy and happy.
What about you? Have you tried any of the products Nexxus new York Salon Care products yourself? If you have, what do you think about them? Do any of these products mentioned and discussed sound like they could work for you and your hair?
Check out Nexxus New York Salon Care online for a full list of products and what they offer. And, stop by their social media sites to keep up to date with all the info:
I wouldn’t consider myself to be the object of anyone’s hair envy… in fact, I have mentioned time and time again how much I have grown in learning how to care for and treat my hair over the years. But, apparently – my hair is a strong asset for me and something I’m known for. Long, curly… absolutely unruly at times, my locks are a statement all their own and they definitely have come a long way. Over the years I have tried many many hair care products and have found my favorites in both the expensive and high-end brands and those you find more affordable and at the drugstore. But, I’m always on the hunt for a hair care line that will offer my hair results consistently as well as something I know I can afford at a moments notice, not something I have to save up for. I’ve talked about HASK here on my blog a few times over the last couple of years and I have so because I have absolutely enjoyed the line. Today I share with you the HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Hair Care Collection and my thoughts on the products as well as how they have worked for my hair.
The HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Collection consists of four products (as does most of the HASK hair care collections) in the line – Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Conditioner and Shine Oil. Each product is formulated with Color Shield Complex, which helps to protect color-treated hair from damage and fading caused by every day washing and heat styling.
So what is Kalahari Melon Oil? Well, the Kalahari Melon is found in the African desert and thrives by retaining its moisture in the driest conditions. The Kalahari Melon has moisturizing, regenerating and restructuring properties thanks to its high content of essential fatty acids (50 – 70% linoleic acid) which is known to help contribute to the integrity of the cell wall and to the suppleness and beauty of your skin and hair. When the oil is extracted and used in beauty regimens, it plays a key role in the regulation of hydration and restructuring of the epidermis of the skin and hair follicle. This wonderful ingredient counteracts moisture loss and fading, leaving your color-treated hair healthy and vibrant.
Let’s take a look at each product and discuss the benefits and uses, shall we?
Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Shampoo ($5.99 – 12 fl.oz. / 355 mL) helps to shield and replenish the hair. With the color Shield Complex, it has a UV absorber to help protect colored hair from damage and fading. The Kalahari Melon Oil helps to lock in your color and block damage from your hair, leaving it nourished and shiny. With the Color Shield Complex, cranberry and sunflower oils, this shampoo will delicately cleanse without stripping, drying or fading your hair and provide long lasting, vibrant color. Simply apply to wet hair, massage into a lather, rinse thoroughly and repeat if desired. This product is ideal for daily use, but I only wash my hair 2 – 3 times a week so I use as such.
** After using this product, my hair looked shinier, felt soft and was very manageable. What I love the most about it is even if it is oil infused, my hair did not look or feel weighted down or heavy and it was not greasy after the 2nd and 3rd day without washing.
Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Conditioner ($5.99 – 12 fl.oz. / 355 mL) also helps to shield and replenish the hair. With the same Color Shield Complex as the shampoo, it absorbs UV to protect colored hair from damage and fading. The conditioner softens, detangles and helps to maintain long lasting vibrant color. To use apply to wet hair after shampooing or use as a co-washing product. Leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. This product is ideal for daily use as well, though again – I use it as much as the shampoo.
** After using this product my hair felt really soft and tangles literally fall out of my hair without finger combing. I absolutely love the scent and love how soft my hair feels.
Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Deep Conditioner ($2.99 – 1.75 fl.oz. / 50g) also includes the Color Shield Complex to protect your colored hair from damage and fading. This deep conditioner is an ultra-restorative, hydrating treatment that will preserve and nurture your color treated hair. With the Kalahari Melon Oil, it helps to counteract dry-out and fading, leaving your hair soft and nourished while still helping to maintain the long-lasting vibrant color we all look for in our hair. To use this deep conditioner, simply apply a generous amount to your clean, wet hair. Due to the length of my hair – I usually will get two uses out of one packet, depending on the conditioning process I’m following. Massage into your hair focusing on the damaged areas and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse well and style as usual. You can use this deep conditioner ideally 1-2 times a week or as needed. I usually use it once a week and have used this particular product several times.
** It’s hard to find a good deep conditioner that doesn’t weigh my hair down or leave my scalp so greasy that I break out. This one leaves my scalp feeling nice, but my hair is not heavy and feels great.
Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Shine Oil ($2.99 – 5/8 fl. oz. / 18mL) is perfect to preserve and nurture your gorgeous colored locks. This lightweight, alcohol-free oil instantly absorbs to help protect color treated hair and leaves behind no funky greasy residue. It can be used on both wet and dry hair to create a silky, smooth finish. Distribute a coin-sized amount evenly throughout hair and avoid the root area. Apply more as you need and best used on hair already protected and treated with the HASK Kalahari Melon Oil System.
** I use this product on my hair when it is wet to help lock in and seal my hair shaft with much needed oil. I also use this product on my hair dry when I need to help give my hair a little extra shine, eliminate some frizz and bring back much needed moisture in my locks. While it is suggested to not get near the root area, I can’t help to avoid it sometimes, but I don’t notice that my hair is weight down or greasy at all.
As I mentioned previously, I have used different collections from HASK in the past and it’s a brand I continue to purchase and stock in my house. I love the products and I love the quality of hair care I get from the brand. Choosing HASK whether it is their Kalahari Melon Oil Collection or others from the brand ensures that I will be getting the same quality I have come to know and love and that my hair loves too. The HASK Kalahari Melon Oil Collection is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol and artificial colors so I know that it will not only protect my hair and my color but also help to keep my curls looking great. With so many different brands on the market today, it’s great to know that there is one out there that I can rely on to offer my hair care routine awesome hair loving ingredients and protection.
Have you tried anything from HASK before? What are your favorites if you have? I have tried several of their collections from the Argan Oil and Keratin Oil to others as well and I have ALWAYS been impressed. If you are looking for quality products at super awesome price tags, I highly suggest you check out this brand. You can visit their website at: http://www.haskbeauty.com and check out their “Where to buy” tab to see locations near you where you can get the products. You can also find them at your local Target or Walmart as well as other retailers.

No matter what time of the year or what season, my hair will certainly prove to have a mind of its own. From a full head of frizz to lack luster locks, loss of shine and even days when my natural curls lose their oomph and fall flat… my hair loves showing me who is boss and who runs the show sometimes. But, when times like this are in demand, I make sure to fight back with hair products and a whole lot of hair love to rescue my locks and show it who’s boss. Over the years, as a beauty blogger, I have had the opportunity to try many different hair care products – many I absolutely love and some fall short but I’m still thankful for these opportunities because I have been able to learn how to care for my hair properly, treat it well and in turn, my hair looks great. Today I’m going to share with you a hair care line that I have been loving – Nexxus Oil Infinite System and how it has rescued my hair.
When it comes to hair care, I’m all about simplicity and affordability. Yes, I will admit that I indulge in hair products that can be costly, but if I can find a favorite brand or product at the drugstore store for half the cost or less… I’ll be the first person in line to pick it up. The Nexxus Oil Infinite Oil Infusing System consists of three hair loving products that will really rescue your hair from damage while protecting it as well. This oil infusing system is perfect for dull hair (which I tend to have as we transition in seasons from Winter/colder months to Spring and Summer) and helps you to regain control of your unmanageable locks. The line is specifically formulated using concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and natural Babassu and Marula Oils to help renew your hair’s texture and restore its smooth, sleek, fluid beauty.
Step One: Nexxus Oil Infinite Shampoo ($9.97 – 400 mL/13.5 fl.oz.) This Oil Infinite Shampoo helps to rebalance your hair while cleansing and replenishes lipids to help nourish your hair within. It’s unique technology infuses the oils (Babassu and Marula) into the hair to help with unmanageable, rough hair that you can sometimes get after coloring, treatment or after the harsh and colder winter months. This shampoo helps to restore softness, reduce frizz and make your hair much more manageable. Since I want to protect my curls and keep them hydrated, moisturized and frizz free, I tend to gravitate to products that not only help to cleanse and replenish nutrients, but also leave my hair weightless, so that my natural curls don’t fall out or go limp. I also look for products that are silicone-free, which this one is… allowing my hair to be primed for rich conditioning in the next step.
This shampoo is thick in texture since it contains a concentration of pure protein and conditioning polymers, but it leaves my hair feeling soft after just one use. I love that this product helps to decrease the frizz and helps to relieve my hair when it starts to feel and look dry. Furthermore, the scent of this shampoo is great… I can smell these products in my hair until my next wash – not that it’s a bad thing, of course.
Step Two: Nexxus Oil Infinite Conditioner ($14.97 – 400mL / 13.5 fl.oz.) This Oil Infinite Conditioner is also enriched with great oils like Babassu and Marula as well as the concentrated 100% Pure Elastin Protein. The conditioner is infused with these precious oils to help seal in rich luminosity, protect the hair and really restore the lipid layer of hair. I love that this conditioner helps to add a protective barrier to my hair by using targeted micro silicons that intelligently deposit only where they are needed on the hair fiber. You have a conditioner that seals in the nourishment, smooths your hair without that funky, heavy residue and leaves your hair balanced and flexible.
I especially enjoy using this conditioner for untangling or finger combing my hair in the shower. It’s thick enough to really coat the hair but still has enough slip to allow me to work my fingers through my hair easily to untangle each strand. And, like the shampoo, this conditioner smells really good too. Working together with the shampoo, this conditioner provides a balance that those at Nexxus call… “the perfect equilibrium”.
Lastly, Step Three: Nexxus Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil ($13.47 – 100 mL / 3.38 fl.oz.) This Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil is infused with a rich 6 oil blend, including pure Amazonian Babassu Oil which is known to be used for generations as a rich emollient and African Marula Oil which is renowned for its healing properties. This rich, versatile oil infusion encapsulates the hair, nourishes deep within the hair shaft and replenishes the lipid layer on the surface to help reduce frizz, enhance softness and improve your hair’s manageability. It is the perfect hair oil to help your hair if your have rough or coarse locks and if you are looking for a smooth texture, added shine and overall luster.
I LOVE the scent of this product and one to two pumps is more than enough to work through my long hair… starting from the ends and working the product through the lengths up my hair shaft and ending at my roots. It’s a light weight hair oil, so your hair will not lose it’s volume if you use the right amount and I love to use this product through out the week, between washes to help revive, refresh and tame my frizz.
If you are looking to revive and rescue your hair, whether you color it like me or you just want to add more shine and luster, you need to head on over to your local Walmart or Walmart.com and check out the Nexxus Oil Infinite Oil Infusing System. This hair care line is pretty awesome, restoring your hair to greatness and all at an affordable cost.

“This post was sponsored by Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture, all thoughts and opinions are my own.”
The Winter months tend to take its toll on my hair and by the time Spring makes its way here, my hair tends to need a little extra TLC. With Spring in full swing, I want to make sure that my hair is not only protected for the warmer months, but that the frizz that tends to be prominent is kept at bay. This season I’m treating my hair to a little extra love with the help of Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture. Our skin and bodies aren’t the only things that need a little finesse, our hair needs some love too. Do you have curly hair like I do and need a little extra hair pampering come Spring? If so, keep reading as I walk your through what I do to keep my curls tame and frizz free with a little extra definition. Call it a tutorial or just some of my favorite tips… whatever your play on words, follow along as I take you through my Spring Hair Care Pampering.
Over the years, my hair has lost a lot of its curl thanks to my consistent use of heat on it. Because of this, I try my best to use my hair as natural as possible, using products that not only infuse moisture into my hair, but protect my hair shaft and define my curls. Most of the products I use are formulated with ingredients like coconut oil (I also use the real thing on my hair all the time) to help keep my hair hydrated and my curls springy. Recently I have added awesome products from Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture’s Coconut & Moringa Oil line to help combat my frizz and define my curls. This line has been a substantial difference in how my hair feels and how great it looks.
The innovation behind the newly launched collections from Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture combines two beauty breakthroughs including:
Dual Encapsulation Oil Technology – Dual Encapsulation Technology that infuses hair with two natural oils – one repairative, the other, style-enhancing. Both delivering nourishment exactly where hair needs it most. The tiny micro-spheres infuse hair with targeted, time-released nutrients to rapidly boost conditioning benefits.
Natural Silicone Alternative – Brassica Seed Oil’s excellent antioxidant profile results in a natural shine, smoothness and silky softness without the potential for buildup.
I specifically chose to use the Coconut & Moringa Oils Collection to help my curls with definition and to help fight frizz. But, there are more lines available to suit your hair needs like the Jamaican Black Castor & Murumuru Oils Collection, Dream Come True Collection and the Brassica Seed and Shea Oil Collection. Each of the collections are formulated with six multi-tasking oils that help nourish, condition, detangle and seal in moisture. You can select each one for specific treatment and conditioning boosts and to help refresh your hair which make Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture’s lines ideal for complete care and pampering or blending the lines for more personalized hair needs.
A few tips on how I keep my hair looking fresh and pretty. Keep in mind that these are my tips and you can taper them to accommodate your hair and hair type.
I only really wash my hair about once a week. Each person can decide to wash more if they decide, but since my hair is so dry, if I wash it more often – I tend to have a crazy head of hair full of frizz.
When shampooing, I usually concentrate my shampoo towards the roots and scalp and try to stay away from the length of my hair. If I feel like my length and ends need a little extra cleansing, I will use a conditioner and co-wash those sections. Or, I will use the shampoo but try to use one sparingly.
Conditioning or a great mask is a must. Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture’s Frizz Fighting Coconut & Moringa Oils Curl Conditioner is perfect for conditioning the hair and adding in moisture. Since our curls tend to dry out easily, this conditioner helps to soften and detangle my hair while restoring much needed moisture. I love that this product is thick enough to coat my hair nicely but still has enough slip to work through my hair, detangle with my fingers and leave my hair smooth, soft and moisturized.
After my shower I tend to use a variety of products that not only lock in the moisture into my hair, but help to define my curls and help with the frizz. The Curl Defining Milk (Coconut & Moringa Oils) helps to add that extra moisture, fight frizz and define my curls. It’s like a leave-in conditioner without the weight and helps to form my curls to give them a little extra bounce.
After applying the Curl Defining Milk, I add the Flyaway Curl Control Serum which helps to fight frizz, protect the hair and add shine. This serum smells delicious (as do the other products) and is a water-resistant serum that adds a protective barrier to help block humidity. One pump is more than enough for my whole head of hair. I apply to my ends and work my way up my shaft to my scalp to help protect my hair and help with the frizz.
When I’m looking for a little hold, I will add a light weight mousse or gel to help keep my curls defined and in place but most the time, that consists of my hair care routine and the extra pampering I do to treat my hair to some love. Since I only wash my hair once a week (2x at the most), after my 2nd or 3rd day of hair, I tend to add a refresher to help rejuvenate my curls if they are starting to fall flat. I have been using the Curl Refresher Mist to help reactivate my curls and redefine them as well as soften and eliminate the frizz that may have accumulated over the last few days. This curl refresher is a life saver because I do not need to really re-wet my hair as I would normally and it leaves my hair looking like it’s freshly washed.
Living in Hawaii can do major damage to my hair year round and the colder months, while they can take its toll… the warmer months can really dry my hair out just as bad. It’s important that I take the extra time and utilize great products to help keep my hair looking great. It’s no secret that I tend to wear my hair up and out of my face most of the time – if you’ve been a follower of my blog, then you would have seen countless photos of my hair in a bun. But, that also means that when I decide to wear my hair down, I need it to be on top of its game… looking fab, healthy and shiny. Since my hair is so long and curly, it tends to get a lot of attention and since all eyes are on it, I want it to look good. To keep my hair looking great, that means I need awesome products and a good but simple hair care routine I can keep up with.
While I use a plethora of different brands and products, I really have been enjoying using Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture’s Coconut & Moringa Oils Collection and it has been a great benefit to my hair the last month. Used in combination with some of my favorite brands and products, it has added additional luster to my hair making it look like I just stepped out of a salon. As I mentioned previously, the brand offers different collections to suit different hair types, so a little hair love, pampering and TLC is not difficult to obtain.

Let’s face it, not everyone is blessed with curly hair. I’m really lucky in that I have coiled curls that grace my long luscious locks, but those that don’t have curls need to improvise some. Since my natural curls are coiled and there are days that I may want softer, larger barrel size curls, I turn to one of my favorite hair tool brands. I have a pretty nice collection of Nume goodies from the Lustrum Set, Classic Reverse Wand and the 25mm Classic Wand so it’s a hair tool line that I truly do enjoy. As I say, when you don’t have them yourself – improvise and Nume has the tools to help with that. Nume celebrates their 5 year anniversary (Happy Birthday Nume!) and with that I want to share with you one of my favorite hair tools and some fun discounts you can utilize to get in on some of this hair tool goodness for yourself.
If you are looking to change up your style some, I definitely suggest the classic wand. I have the 25mm which is a common barrel size and perfect for someone who is a beginner hair tool user or advanced. The Classic Wand has a 100% Tourmaline-infused ceramic coated barrel and utilizes an innovative clipless design for crease-free curls. Since I naturally have dry hair – it’s great to use a wand instead of a curling iron because the clip can cause creases and with dry hair, it literally can ruin all that work… so I prefer a wand vs. a curling iron. The curling wand has negative ion technology and heats up to 410°F. What I love the most is that with your purchase/order you also get a heat-resistant glove that helps with the curling process. I put emphasis on “heat resistant” because you can still burn your fingers, so use extreme caution still.
Since I have natural curls that tend to be really coiled and tight, I like to brush my hair out with my fingers to soften my natural curls. Using a Flat Iron can help straighten your natural curls prior to adding them back in with the curling wand. Since the Classic Wand has that tourmaline-infused ceramic coated barrel, when using it on your hair you are locking in shine and your curls will last longer. This type of curling wand is perfect for those beachy waves we all love to rock during the summer months or voluminous glam waves for that night out with the girls or a date. This wand is perfect for use on medium or long hair and since it heats up quickly, it makes the process of creating your perfect waves easy as pie.
To create the soft beachy waves I am sporting today – I finger combed my natural curls so that they were not so tight and then grabbed 1 inch sections of my hair. Starting at various lengths of my hair (some near the root, some near the bottom and the middle of my locks) I added the curl using the Nume 25mm Classic Wand. Once I completed my whole head of hair, I finger combed through my hair once again to pull out the curls so they were not so tight. Since I added the curls to different sections and lengths of my hair, it gave me much needed volume and created a fuller textured look. To set the curls, I added a shine spray and scrunched my hair with some Argan Oil. Since I have thin hair but my hair is long… I need to create more volume and add to the bulk of my hair so I also spray with a light leave-in conditioner and I’m good to go. If you want more curls then texture, you can always skip running your fingers through your hair and leave the curls intact and set with a setting or hair spray. Make sure prior to adding any heat to your hair that you use a heat protectant so that you are protecting your locks from damage.
Creating beautiful locks with curls for days is as easy as moving your arms above your head. It can take a little practice sometimes, but once you find a routine you enjoy – you will find that it is easier than you thought. Since my hair is just about past my butt, it can take me a while to get through my whole head of hair, but it’s all worth it in the end.
Like I mentioned previously, it is Nume’s 5th Anniversary! Because of this awesome celebration – Nume is offering great discounts for all of my readers and followers. If you are looking to add to your hair tool collection or to pick something up for the first time – now’s your chance to get some of these awesome tools at a discount. I’ve been buying Nume products now for as long as they have been a company and I love not only their quality but the products themselves, so I know you’ll enjoy them too.
So, do you have your eyes on any of these beauties? What set or wand or straightener are you looking at picking up for yourself? I can’t recommend them enough and as I said previously, while I do receive PR Samples I have purchased from Nume on many occasions. I plan to pick up a Straightener and a Titan 3 to add to my collection soon. Be sure to head on over to the site and click on the links above to utilize the coupon codes. The sale begins today and ends on Easter Sunday (March 27, 2016) so be sure to check it out in time to take advantage of the awesome deals.

When it comes to hair care – I try a lot of different products. I have hair that tends to be a bit finicky and definitely needs extra care. While I do have my favorites, I’m always interested in trying out new things and I especially love a good hair product that includes some of my favorite ingredients like Argan and Coconut oils. With curls for days and long tresses, I do what I can to keep my crazy hair at bay. Recently I was sent some goodies for my hair – the L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Collection and today I’m going to share my thoughts with all of you.
The L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Collection includes products that are perfect for dry hair – which just happens to be the type of hair I have. Since my hair is so long and because I live in a tropical climate, my locks tend to be drier than I would like – which means I need to compensate with hair products that will add extra moisture. The Extraordinary Oil line not only helps to rehydrate and restore my hair, but some of the products like the Extraordinary Oil Curls Re-nourish mask also help with my curly hair. I received 4 out of the 7 different products I seen on their website and I’ll break it down for you and share my thoughts on each I had the opportunity to try.
First, you have the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo ($4.99 / 25.4 fl.oz. – 750mL). This shampoo is perfect for daily care to help dry and lifeless hair. It’s a lightweight shampoo that is non-greasy and when applied to the hair – it left my hair feeling really clean, but not dry. I don’t have very many lathering products since I try to use sulfate-free hair care, so I really worried that this shampoo would leave my hair stripped of its natural oils. It actually did really well with my hair and I literally noticed after the first wash that my hair was pretty shiny and soft.
The advanced formula of the Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo includes an oil complex that has oils + botanical extracts in oil to rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seal the cuticle. With the Arginine-K Complex, this system penetrates the hair fiber from the root, to the core, to the tip for healthier feeling and looking hair. Once you use this product, your hair is just about instantly transformed to silkier, softer – more lustrous hair. I was not only amazed, but very impressed. I only wash my hair about one to two times a week so I worried that this product would leave my curls dry and my hair (and my scalp) seemed to like the product overall. Oh – did I mention it has a soft fragrance? I actually really enjoy the scent, it’s light – but smells really good… almost floral, though I do not think that is it. I believe it is a mix of the argan and coconut oil, but I haven’t been able to pinpoint it yet. I like that the fragrance is light because it doesn’t affect my allergies.
The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Conditioner ($4.99 / 25.4 fl.oz. – 750mL) can be used for daily care to help with dry, lifeless hair. It’s lightweight and non-greasy just like the shampoo and includes the same oil complex as well. After just one wash, I noticed my hair definitely softer and smoother. I love the thickness of this conditioner. It is not too thick, but thick enough to coat my hair nicely but still offering a good amount of slip. This conditioner really is the perfect one for detangling my hair while in the shower, which I like to do.
Just like the shampoo – the conditioner claims to help rejuvenate the hair with weightless nutrition. The Extraordinary Oil system instantly transforms dry, lifeless strands into silkier, softer, more lustrous hair. With the Advanced Formula Oil Complex of oils and botanical extracts in the oil – this conditioner helps to rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seals the cuticle. It also includes the Arginine K complex to help penetrate hair fiber from root, to core, to tip for healthier hair. After the first use of using this product, I was amazed at how much I enjoy it. It did well in moisturizing and hydrating my hair and left my hair very very soft.
I’m all about a great mask, especially one that is formulated to help my curls so I was intrigued and excited to try this one from L’Oreal. The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Curls Re-Nourish Mask ($6.99 / 8.5 fl.oz. – 250 mL) is formulated to rehydrate, restore and reinfuse bounce into naturally curly hair. It’s a rinse-out treatment best suited for very dry and curly hair. This mask instantly penetrates the hair to quench and calm even very dry, curly hair with hydration and nutrition. The Re-Nourish mask is made with the Extraordinary Oil system to help defrizz the hair, and infuse curls with bounce.
The mask itself has a very light scent to it – like the other products in this line and is quite thick, though still manageable. It includes the Advanced Treatment Oil Complex (AMLA Extract) system with oils + botanical extracts in oil to penetrate the fiber to instantly replenish curls with nourishment and elasticity. After one use I noticed my hair was shinier, rehydrated and soft but also – my curls had a lot of bounce.
When it comes to masks, I can use a lot of it (just like conditioners) because my hair is nearly past my rear. I found that this product was thick enough to coat my strands, but also thin enough to be worked into my hair without using a lot of product as I normally would. It’s easy to use – simply apply this mask to your wet hair after shampooing. Massage through to the ends of your hair and leave in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. This product has to be rinsed out. It is too thick and has too much oils in it to leave over night in my opinion… I tried it the first time I used it just to see and it left my scalp feeling kind of oily. I did like it when used as directed and at the price point, I think I may continue to purchase this product to keep on hand. It really helped to soften my dry ends leaving them looking healthy and smooth.
Lastly, the L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Lustrous Oil Serum ($6.99 / 3.4 fl.oz. – 100mL), is quite a great little product. As many of you know if you’ve been here reading my posts for a while, I really am a huge oil fan and use coconut and argan oil (to name a few) in my hair consistently and usually daily. I was so happy to try a hair serum with the oil complex the same as in the other products from this line that I have tried. This product claims to instantly add shine and a silky-touch to your hair and is lightweight and non-greasy. It’s a leave-in treatment that is perfect for dry and lifeless hair.
The Extraordinary Oil system instantly absorbs, transforming dry hair strand by strand for weightless silky shine. It includes the same system of oils + botanical extracts in oil to help rapidly propel hydration to the fiber and seals the cuticle. With oils like Chamomile, Coconut, Sunflower, Soja, Gardenia and Rose – this oil serum helps to add instant shine and a gorgeous, soft and silky touch. I apply this product as directed, after using the shampoo and conditioner I apply the serum throughout the lengths of my hair concentrating it on the ends. I love that this product can be used before a shampoo to help nourish and protect the hair and before styling to help control and discipline hair. But, most importantly for me it also works well as a finishing touch to any style or hair look for exquisite softness and lustrous shine.
The L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil line has been such a great asset in my hair care needs. I have used products from the L’Oreal Feria line (for hair coloring) and that is basically it – so I was not only impressed by my first use of the hair products from this line, but also with the quality considering the price point. Each of the products offered a light scent – almost floral, that made use quite pleasing and didn’t leave me nauseous as other hair products can do and I liked that it worked so well with my curly hair. Since I tend to have drier hair than usual, I love a product line that really replenishes my hair and keeps it looking great for longer periods of time, especially since I usually only wash 1-2 times a week. Since these products have oils that help to seal the cuticle and hydrate your natural hair fibers, I think they would make great products for those who color their hair consistently. I noticed that after using these products, my red didn’t fade as quickly and I didn’t have as much bleeding of color in my shower after a wash. These products have helped to keep my hair color lasting longer as well as keeping my hair looking great. Since all four products are infused with vitamins and antioxidants, my hair feels so soft and shiny and has felt this way after just one use.
Overall, I’m really liking them – loving the price, and after a month of using these, I look forward to repurchasing some of my favorites.
You can purchase these products and more at: http://www.lorealparisusa.com/ as well as your local drugstore, Target, Walmart or other stores where L’Oreal is sold.

Have a wonderful day! Smooches!

I constantly get asked the following questions when it comes to my hair “What do you do with your hair? How does it grow so long? How does your hair look so healthy if you color it so often?” The fact of the matter is – great products, good hair care and taking care of my overall health have been the contributing factors. Since we are in the new year, I figured I would finally take a moment to explain to everyone what it is I do to care for my hair. I have always had long hair, for most of my life my hair has always been past my waist line and because it’s so curly, I tend to pull it back and out of my face pretty religiously. There are few products that work well for my hair and some methods may work better for me than others, but here is what I do to care for my hair and keep it healthy and long.
After having my twins, I noticed that my hair became brittle and overall lack luster. I realized then that I really needed to take care of my health and my body in order for parts of me to really benefit. During my pregnancies and after giving birth, I really lost all of the body and volume my hair used to have, my natural curls were literally a disarray and my hair quickly started to thin and have a lot of breakage. I realized quickly that I needed to really start taking care of myself as well as my hair to bring back what it was missing. The twins pregnancy was not only high risk, it also took a toll on my body. I lost over 65 lbs and it really started to show in how my hair was looking. I knew then I needed to really get on a good hair care routine to bring back some life into my long locks.
First of all, I started with drinking A LOT of water. I can drink a gallon of water each day if I’m not too busy running around and it has been an absolute part of my daily routine. When it comes to taking care of my health, I make sure this is a priority. Many don’t know this but by drinking your minimum amount of water intake each day you not only help your body, but your skin and even your hair looks shiny and pretty and in turn it will keep it healthy. Water is just the beginning – along with a good diet and great products, I was able to bring back some life to my hair.
Over the last 6 years or more, I have incorporated products from Moroccanoil into my hair care routine. These products have been an important part of not only adding shine and luster to my hair but keeping my frizz from my curls at bay. One of my favorites and a product I’ve used for many years is the Moroccanoil Treatment. This unique formula is rich in antioxidant argan oil that instantly absorbs into my hair to help enhance manageability, shine and offer long term conditioning without any funky residue. It’s lightweight and a little goes a long way, even with my full head of hair. I also notice that when I continue to nourish my hair with great products, my hair is not only healthy, without frizz and very pretty – but my curls have more bounce and my hair seems to grow quicker.
How do I treat my hair? Well – right after I get out of the shower, I immediately wrap my hair in a microfiber towel or a t-shirt and leave for about 10 minutes so that it has time to really remove a lot of the excess water. I remove the towel and take about a quarter sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment and work through my hair starting with the ends and working my hands with the product through my hair shaft and ending at the scalp. I let the product sit and work its magic on my hair for a few minutes before I add in any additional products. The Moroccanoil Treatment is a lightweight oil that soaks into my hair quickly. It doesn’t weigh down my curls and leaves them looking healthy.
To help enhance my natural curls and give them a soft and flexible hold, I then apply the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream and/or the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream. Each product can be used on their own or in combination with one another. When I’m looking to enhance my curls for soft tresses I will use the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream and when I want to really bring out my natural curls that are bouncy and have a tighter coil, I will use the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream. Each of these products are light weight, work into my hair nicely and enhance my hair’s natural texture without leaving it crunchy or stiff.
Since I only wash my hair about two times a week, I refresh my hair and combat frizz by applying the Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil in between washes. This Pure Argan Oil is wonderful for the hair but does double duty for the skin. I also use this product on its own through my hair after a shower if I’m not looking to add any additional product to my hair. Like the Moroccanoil Treatment, the Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil is lightweight and feels wonderful in my hair. It leaves my hair shiny and silky but also makes my skin feel soft and smooth. My husband loves using this product as well for his body and his face.
The great thing about Moroccanoil is that they only source the highest quality argan oil originating from argan trees grown in Morocco. The argan oil used in all of the Moroccanoil hair and skin products are manufactured by a cold-press process. Moroccanoil continues to be the leader in the oil-infused hair and body product industry and these products are not only my favorites because of how they work for my hair, but also because of the outstanding quality I know to expect from the brand and their products. If you don’t already include Argan Oil into your beauty routine – whether for hair or skin or both, incorporating this oil will leave your hair shinier and healthier and your skin feeling smooth.
Since I have natural curls and have learned over the years on how to care for them, I don’t use heat on my hair often and when I do – I always ensure that I have my Moroccanoil Treatment to use for protection as well as to help with frizz. Also, when it comes to styling products, I don’t tend to use many setting sprays or gels and use my hair as natural as I can to keep it looking healthy. Everyone’s hair texture and hair type is different from others so adjusting the products you need for your hair is an individualized thing. I have been using some of these products from Moroccanoil for several years and after all this time, it’s a brand I consistently use to help keep my hair looking great. With proper hair care you can really bring back life to your locks.
I hope this little post of sharing with you some of my hair favorites and what I do consistently to care for my hair has helped to inspire you some. Moroccanoil offers a wide range of products for your hair care, hair styling and even for your skin and incorporating these products into my regimen is always a delight. While my routine for caring of my hair is simple, the products do make a huge difference. What about you? Have you tried Moroccanoil products before? If so, what are your thoughts on the brand and what they offer? Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a fabulous week!

Let’s face it – when it comes to curls I’m always looking for the products that work well for me and my full head of hair. It’s not an easy task and I have tried more than my fair share of products – enough to last a lifetime. Dippity-Do Girls With Curls products are a throwback to the days of carefree curls. I have heard of Dippity-Do products before, but have never seen or heard of their Girls With Curls line so I was excited to give it a go and see how it would work for me. After using these products for some time now, I’m finally comfortable to share my thoughts with you about how they worked for me.
After years of flat-ironing my hair, I have lost a lot of curl definition and I’m constantly working on redeveloping my curl pattern. Because of this, I’m always on the hunt for a product or products that will not only help to define my curls, but also give them added moisture, shine and help to combat frizz. I have used many products in the World to help with this and many are quite costly, so I was very intrigued to find out that the Dippity-Do Girls with Curls line was so darn affordable. I was given the opportunity to test out the entire line and today I’m going to discuss each product in detail and how it worked for me.
Curl Shampoo – I was beyond impressed with this shampoo. I have been using Sulfate Free shampoos for a while now and many of them do not offer the lather I miss with shampoos that have it. This shampoo lathered up great and left my hair feeling clean. What I enjoyed the most was that my hair didn’t feel dry or without moisture as other shampoos have done in the past. It left my hair feeling great and I LOVE that it has coconut oil in it which is something I use in my hair consistently already.
Curl Conditioner – This conditioner was not as thick as I had expected, which is a little different than what I am used to. I like my conditioners to have more slip to them because I tend to finger comb and detangle my hair while I have conditioner in and this was not as easy to detangle my hair with. While it did the job, I feel like I could use something with a little more oomph… but overall – it does the job and I do like it. You can’t beat the price point and it didn’t leave my hair feeling dry. Each strand still felt moisturized, looked shiny after dry and my curls were soft and manageable.
Deep Treatment– When it comes to a deep treatment, I expect something that will really go above and beyond the conditioner from the same line but I felt like this one is more of a daily conditioner for me. In order for my curls to be moisturized well without soaking it all up – I need something with a little more and felt like this was nice to use, nourished my hair – but left my hair wanting more. I have finicky hair so I would chuck it up as my hair being difficult – but I would love to see something that is much thicker and richer to be a deep treatment. Again, you can’t beat the price point, so I definitely think it did the job for the most part – my hair just wants more and after a few uses, I used the entire bottle because my hair drinks that stuff up. Even as a long period mask – I felt that it still didn’t offer my hair as much quench as I would have liked. Considering the price point though – again, still great in a pinch.
Curl Defining Cream – This particular product didn’t necessarily define my curls when used on it’s own after washing my hair, but I felt like my hair needed this product when used in combination with the Gelee to help my curls. I love to run my fingers through my hair so if you know anything about me, I don’t use gel or mousse or products that hold my hair in place for this reason. Because of this, I really loved the Curl Defining Cream. It made my hair feel ultra soft and smooth and when used before the Gelee, my hair was still soft and smooth – without feeling crunchy, sticky or rough like it can be. I was able to run my fingers through my hair with the Gelee, which would normally be difficult. Again, it didn’t quite define my curls – but does work to make them touch-ably soft.
Gelee – Ah, this product is one of my favorites out of the whole line. It left my curls defined with nice hold but still bouncy and move-able. If I used it on its own (without the Curl Defining Cream) I did notice my hair would frizz up a little faster than normal and would feel a little dry. But, used in combination with the Curl Defining Cream, my curls were very pretty, bouncy, soft to the touch and defined nicely. This will definitely be my go-to moving forward because I love that my hair or neck and scalp do not feel sticky with use and I haven’t broken out at all while using this product. I also love that this product gives my hair a little extra volume. I take a little of the product and scrunch through my roots for a fuller hair look – I love it!
Curl Booster Spray – I specifically used this product on second day hair most of the time, though I thought it worked okay to finish up my hair style after applying the Gelee. Just a little spritz on the ends of my hair helped to lock in the moisture which I tend to lose the quickest in that area. I didn’t really use this product to boost my curls unless I was on my second or third day without washing – I would spritz at the root of my hair for a little added lift (since that is the part that tends the mash the quickest) and again at the tips in case the ends of my hair went flat from pulling my hair up in a bun. I wear my hair up A LOT because it is so long so I used this mostly to revive my curls. I didn’t notice any “curl boosting” on the first day when used.
I’m still on a journey of redefining my curl patterns on my hair after years of heat damage and constant straightening. It’s a consistent battle because my hair is long and grows so fast, I literally cut it every 3 months to keep up with the growth and to keep my hair from getting too heavy and weighed down. When it comes to curly hair products, I have tried most if not all of them and have spent a great deal of money on this mop I call hair. lol I miss my tight Keri Russell curls that I used to have… but I’m slowly working my way back to it again. With products like these from Dippity-Do, I can see a great curly haired future in sight.
Each product from the Girls With Curls line costs just $6.99 – come on now, major steal. While some of the products worked better for me than others, I can’t help but feel obligated to want to continue using them all because the price point really is nice. I know I’ll be keeping the Gelee in my hair routine, as well as the Shampoo and Curl Defining Cream. The rest all worked reasonably well – but I’m not quite convinced I still need them all, though that won’t stop me from repurchasing just so I can use them all together. What I really enjoy about this line is that while it’s drugstore priced, it really doesn’t have crappy results. My hair seems to feel fuller and have more body – which I love since my hair is on the thinner side. Overall – I would definitely suggest this brand and hair care line – I was beyond impressed and didn’t expect it to work as well as it did. These pink bottles are definitely going to be in my curly hair future.
What about you? What kind of hair do you have – curly, straight, wavy? What are your favorite curly hair products if you have any?

I naturally have very curly hair and sometimes tight curls like my hair can have are difficult to style or use a different way other than the norm. I also have really long hair so styling my hair with tools can be painful on my arms and often times I decide to give up midway through the process of trying to style my locks. I love trying products that offer great results and recently I have been using the T3 Twirl 360 Curling Iron and giving my hair a little vavavoom!
I was immediately wowed by the packaging of this unit and seeing as how I am in love with anything gold or rose gold, once I set my sights on this beauty, I immediately was in love. This styling iron features gorgeous accents that make anyone feel like they are holding something luxurious in their hands. This one-of-a-kind gyroscopic styling iron features patent-pending motion-sensing technology and an auto-rotating barrel to create gorgeous curls and waves with the simple turn of your wrist. I think it is absolutely genius that the Twirl 360 senses the movement of your hand and automatically rotates in the direction you desire and at the same time forming polished, beautiful curls every single time. Curling my hair is so simple with this tool.
With a 1.25″ barrel, you easily get voluminous curls for any length your hair may be. As I mentioned previously, my hair is fairly long and while it took a little finesse and a little practice, I was able to achieve gorgeous barreled curls that are very different from my normal tight curls that I have naturally. The barrel heats up quickly you have up to 5 heat settings (260-410 degrees F). The T3 Twirl 360 also has Digital Singlepass Technology which constantly measures and adjusts the temperature across the entire barrel for an even, consistent heat.
It took me a little while to get used to the speed settings of the tool, but I am happy and glad that it has 2 speed settings – slower speed for beginners or shorter hair and faster speed for experts or longer hair. Once I had the opportunity to use it a few times, I was able to get used to the speed for my hair length and creating my waves was effortless and easy. It is amazing that I can curl my entire head of hair in half the time I would with a traditional curling iron or wand. The wide, curved grip makes it easy to locate and comfortable to use from any direction. The tourmaline & ceramic barrel helps to create a shiny, smooth finish that makes my hair look like I just stepped onto the runway or out of a salon.
Using this styling iron is simple – with the Go Button, just press and turn your wrist to activate the gyroscopic technology and you are on your way to gorgeous curls.
“Gyroscopic Technology – Used in aviation, space exploration and hi-tech electronic devices for its sensitivity and precision, gyroscopic technology detects motion and triggers automatic barrel movement by the simple twist of your wrist, creating easy, flawless curls every time.”
And, I love a product that helps to combat frizz. The infrared energy from the Tourmaline gemstone fights frizz and seals the hair cuticle while digital SinglePass Technology ensures fast heat up and consistent heat delivery along the barrel. I have tried automatic curling irons before, but this one – definitely wowed me consistently.
Since my hair is naturally very curly, I took the T3 Twirl 360 Curling Iron used it on each strand to first soften my natural curls, adding shine to my hair and eliminating the frizz while kind of straightening my natural curls out. Then I went back with the curling iron to create large barrel curls that are soft and add volume to my long hair. The end result is what you see above.
The T3 Twirl 360 Curling Iron can be purchased at Sephora for $230 (retail). The product itself has gorgeous packaging as I stated before and I found that the learning curve and overall use of this product was easy even with the challenges I originally had with my long hair. If you have shorter hair than mine, this would be a great addition to your hair styling arsenal, creating gorgeous curls or volume with ease.
Have you tried this product or have you had your eyes on it? What kind of styling products do you have that you enjoy using?
