A few weeks ago I received a box in the mail that I was very excited to get.  Let’s face it – anything from Yves Saint Laurent is a treat for me and I couldn’t wait to test out the new Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector compliments of Influenster.  Adorn with the signature YSL gold and packaging, the new Touche Eclat duo looked as great in the packaging as it did in all its glory.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector - Influenster Voxbox

The Touche Eclat Blue Primer is a clear gel like product with gold reflects suspended though out.  I received the mini which includes 0.33 fl.oz. worth of product, however the full size includes 1.0 fl.oz. and retails for $52.00.  The blur primer is an illuminating primer that blurs imperfections and boosts the radiance of your foundation.  Like most primers – it preps the skin for foundation application, creating an improved – refined appearance and minimizing the look of pores, improving skin texture making it feel smoother and evening out the skin tone.  This product is packed with four nourishing oils – corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil which all help to make the skin feel soft without a greasy residue.  It is packed with blur technology, the primer provides a subtle, golden shimmer for gorgeous and ultimate luminosity.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector - Influenster Voxbox

Since I don’t use foundation or concealer, I wasn’t sure how much this product would work for me since everything that I read states that it helps with foundation.  However, I did notice a difference in how my skin looks after applying the primer as well as how my face products like blush, bronzer and highlight have a longer staying power.  Since I tend to bathe in highlighter, I also found that when I apply it to my cheek bones, it looks flawless and I barely notice my pores.  I also like that my powder or cream products apply so smoothly and evenly giving my face the look of even skin tone and overall a glowy and healthy appearance.  This product is non-comedogenic and suitable for all skintones and sensitive skin.

The primer has a gel like type of consistency but as soon as it hits the skin, it reminds me of silicone primers I have used in the past.  It applies smoothly and evenly and as it is blended onto the skin, it has a soft and baby powder like feel to touch.  It dries quickly and instantly and leaves your skin feeling soft and I love that it is not sticky and it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin.  Most importantly – I haven’t had any reactions or flareups with my sensitive skin which is a BONUS.  I honestly think that once I am done with the mini I received through Influenster, I will be looking into purchasing the full size.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector - Influenster Voxbox

The next product I got in the Voxbox from Influenster was the Touche Eclat Blur Perfector compact to perfect skin while retaining its luminous glow.  I was very excited to get a full sized sample of the Blur Perfector.  With a Net Wt. of 0.33oz and retailing for $55.00 – I was ecstatic to add this to my beauty arsenal.  The perfector is portable and packaged in a sleek and gorgeous compact.  This is Yves Saint Laurent’s first ever blur perfector encased within a compact and it’s gorgeous.  This product transforms from a balm to a powder upon application to soften the skin’s imperfections – creating a transparent yet subtle rosy-glow effect.  You can use this product alone or as an allover complexion perfector, to set your makeup or as a mattifying touch up to get rid of shine and hide imperfections.  What’s awesome is that it is a universal shade that will compliment all skin types and instantly minimizes the look of pores so that the skin feels smoother and the complexion appears even.  The blur perfector is also non-comedogenic and ideal for all skin tones and skin types.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector - Influenster Voxbox

The first time I tried this product, the results it gave me as well as the feel and texture reminded me of my beloved Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender.  While a tad bit sticky to touch – it blends out easily and turns into a powdery like texture that feels great against the skin.  It kind of me reminds me of an odd-like almost sticky wax – if that makes any sense.  This product works well to help give your face a matte finish and I love when I’m using a cream blush because applying this product on top keeps it in place all day.  I haven’t used the sponge to apply the product yet and have been applying with my fingers – creature of habit I guess.  While I do like the matte like effect it gives and it does keep some of my blush on all day – I think that it doesn’t help blur my imperfections on my face as well as the primer does.  However, used in combination over a BB cream or CC Cream, I did notice that it gave my face an almost airbrushed effect and I liked it.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector - Influenster Voxbox

In the photo above, I am using the Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Perfector.  I noticed my blush, bronzer and highlight lasted for hours that day and my skin felt very nice and soft.

Overall – I’m pretty impressed with both products and I’m very thankful I was given this opportunity to try both of them out.  While I think I would definitely repurchase the full size of the Blur Primer, I may not repurchase the blur perfector since it is a similar cost to my Mally Pore Defender and I much more prefer that over the YSL.  The packaging on each is gorgeous and very lux for sure.  You can purchase these products on the YSL website or at Sephora, Nordstroms and other retailers that carry the brand.

Thank you Influenster for including me in this Voxbox.  Have you tried any of these products before and if so – what are your thoughts?  If not, have you tried similar products on the market?  What are they and what are your favorites?  Don’t forget to stop by my video and check it out.

So – it’s been stated here on my blog before that I have a major ColourPop obsession, so narrowing down my favorite shades was a huge challenge, especially since I own over 50 shadows.  I wanted to make sure that the shades I selected were not part of collections or Limited Edition so that they could be purchased by anyone should they decide that is something they wanted to try.  Today – after a long hard selection process (teehee), I give you My Top 10 ColourPop Eye Shadows for 2015.

top 10 colourpop shadows thumb copy

So have you jumped on the ColourPop bandwagon yet?  I immediately fell in love with not only the shades of eye shadows that ColourPop offered, but also the pigmentation, vibrancy and interesting texture that ColourPop shadows had.  After my first order from the brand this time last year, I haven’t been able to stop buying and have grown to have quite a collection of goodies.  Choosing my Top 10 eye shadows was a challenge (as I mentioned previously) but I was able to narrow it down to 10 and an honorable mention.  So – let’s get started and check out what made my Top 10 List.  If you are interested in the video version – click here or watch the embedded video below.

Be sure to tell me what are some of your top ColourPop shadows in the comments below 😀  Let’s get started – shall we!

My Top 10 Favorite Eye Shadows From ColourPop - 2015

I chose a variety of shades, but as you can see… many have a neutral toned or smoky look to them.

I Heart This – Metallic: This very metallic shade was part of my first purchase from ColourPop and I immediately loved the glitter and sparkle this shadow offered.  It is great for an inner corner highlight or used on the lid for sparkle.  It does offer some fall out if you are swiping the color onto the lid vs. using patting motions.

Get Lucky – Ultra Metallic: This shade is newly acquired (I’ve only had it about 2 months) but it is one of the most beautiful golds I own out of my entire eye shadow collection.  It reminds me of a true gold (like gold bar) and it’s been a shadow on my list for about a year though I have passed it up many times.  I’m so glad I own it.

Liberty – Ultra Metallic:  This gorgeous silver shade definitely screams patriotic but reminds me of liquid metal.  It’s shiny – bold and perfect for all over the lid or a pop of color in a smoky eye.

Desert – Satin:  This color is my favorite for a transition shade in any look.  It mimics my skin tone so it makes any look easy to blend.  I stated in the video it was a matte shade, but it does have a satin sheen though it works fabulous in the crease as well.

Bill – Matte:  Bill is a muted plum beige tone that makes a great all over the lid shade or a transition or crease shade.  It’s a great color that works well for a smoky look and I love it.

My Top 10 Favorite Eye Shadows From ColourPop - 2015

Hustle – Matte:  Probably my favorite matte shadow that I own (and I own several from CP).  Hustle is a gorgeous burgundy shade that lends for an almost violet hue.  It screams Honey and is a shade I pull for to darken my outer v or crease or to add drama to any look.  I LOVE IT.

Mittens – Matte: A beautiful deep brown with a burgundy undertone, Mittens is another shade I love to use in the crease or to darken or deepen a look for dimension.  A must have in any smoky eye kit.

Lala – Ultra Metallic:  I have had this shade now for about 2 months and each time I use makeup I have been pulling this shade out as my lid color.  It is a gorgeous rose gold / copper shade that offers just the perfect amount of shimmer on the lid when blended with matte shadows.  I LOVE IT and it is easily a favorite in my whole collection.  I am using Lala on my lid in the photo embedded from Instagram below.

On my lips is @jordana_cosmetics Rock-N-Rose liner with @milanicosmetics matte naked lipstick. Bronzer is @physiciansformula BB bronzer. Emerald – Pearlized:  This color screams emerald and in one swipe you get “wham bam” color that packs a punch.  While this has a shimmer look to it – it doesn’t have fall out and is just gorgeous on the lid.

ColourPop Cosmetics
I am using Coconut on my lid and Desert in the crease / transition shade.

Coconut – Pearlized:  Another gorgeous favorite… Coconut is a shade I have had a few short months but love it.  It is a statement color that anyone can use and it’s a showstopper.  If you love teals – you will love this as much as I do.  It reminds me of a peacock and its feathers and I am in love with this shade.

Partridge – Pearlized:  Partridge is an honorable mention.  I purchased this shade as a part of a holiday collection and I’m glad I bought it.  It is a gorgeous duo chrome that offers a brown hue with a green shift.  I love duo chromes and this one has stolen my heart.  If you want a shade you can easily wear for a neutral look but keep it fresh – I definitely suggest it.

Wearing ColourPop Desert into the crease and as transition shade. CP Partridge blended into the crease and blended partially onto the lid.

I’m sure next year I will have a whole different selection of color choices or who knows, I may stick to my faves but at the end of the day – I know that I have a ton of fun with these.  You can beat a $5.00 price tag for a lot of product and while some may say they are a challenge to work with, that doesn’t sway me one bit – I love them and I find a way.

So – what are your favorite ColourPop eye shadow shades?  Do you like any of the same ones I do?  Be sure to comment down below and let me know, because I would love to check out your favorites too.

I’m a huge supporter of anything made in the USA and even more so when it is something that my husband likes to use and finds beneficial for his grooming.  The Gentlemen’s Beard Oil and Conditioner is a new product to our household and something that my husband has been testing out over the last month.  This product is easy to use and is formulated with key ingredients that helps to reduce beard itch that can come with a brand new beard or one that can be itchy because your skin is dry.  It eliminates irritation and flakes.

Review - The Gentlemen's Beard Oil and Conditioner

After using this product, my husband stated that it was very easy to use.  You can either dampen your beard, or apply dry but he prefers to apply the product right out of the shower (since he shaves and trims his beard in the shower).  With just a few drops (dropper is included) you simply rub the oil into your beard and you’re done – simple!  What my husband enjoys about this product is that it is unscented.  I have had him include Argan Oil in his skin regimen and the scent can sometimes be overpowering for him so since this beard oil is scentless, it really is easy for him to use and enjoy.

The company states that you can use this to treat split ends on your beard – and they do happen for men.  Split ends can come naturally or occur after a shave so using this oil will help mend and condition the beard to help with that problem.  The bottle lasts a few months depending on how long your beard is and that is great since you will be saving some money easily with not only the cost but amount of product.  Retailing for $39.99 (on sale right now for $19.97) you get a good amount of product for your money.

Ingredients:

Organic Helianthus anuus (sunflower) seed oil, Organic Argania spinosa (Argan) seed oil, Organic Oenothera biennis (Evening primrose) seed oil, Organic Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, Tocopherols (vitamin E).

So – I told you what my husband thinks… how about my thoughts.  I think this is a pretty nice product.  I love that when my husband kisses or we rub faces that his beard doesn’t have that scruffy feeling any longer and it doesn’t feel rough on my sensitive skin.  It’s nice, soft and feels smooth.  I think overall this is a product worth trying for sure.

Have you heard of the Gentlemen’s Beard Oil?  Is this something you would look into for yourself or your husband/boyfriend?  Stop by their site to get more info: http://thegentlemensbeard.com

We all know I’m all about great skin care and it is not an easy task to say the least.  Taking care of your skin has a lot to do with the type of products you choose, how clean and hygienic you are and of course… genes.  Though some of those things are enough – many factors can lead into good or bad skin care, even our environment and what we put into our body can cause issues.  Because of these reasons, I’m consistently on top of my skin care regimen to the best of my ability.  I completely stopped using certain products like foundation and have been using other products like serums to really hydrate and care for my skin.  Skin care products are my thing – they are my jam – they are required in my beauty routine and I’m always excited to try out new ones.  Today I bring to you my thoughts on some products – 180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Acid Serum + Vitamin C and 180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Acid Serum + Oxygen.  I have never tried these brands before but I’m always excited to share with you so here it goes.

180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Acid Serums

Let’s start with the 180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Serum + Oxygen ($89.89 – on sale for $17.49 now).  This serum comes with 15 mL/0.5oz worth of product which is quite a hefty cost for the amount you get.  I absolutely love the gold details and frosted bottle for the packaging and I was very excited to try this product.  Formulated with the highest quality hyaluronic acid – this product is designed to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  It is also formulated to help deliver abundant moisture and oxygen to the skin to help preserve your skin’s elasticity, suppleness and youthful appearance.  This serum contains powerful antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals and is formulated without: Formalin, Formaldehyde, Phthalates, Petro-Chemicals, GMO, Triclosan, Fragrance and colors or dyes.

Using this product is simple.  Like with most serums, it comes with a dropper which makes using the product easy.  I apply a few drops to my hands and then apply to my face and neck while gently massaging in circular motions.  I wait until this product is fully absorbed before applying any other serums or facial creams and apply it day and night.  Overall – this product ran out pretty quickly since it is a small amount, but I found my skin felt hydrated and smooth.  The product soaks into my skin so quickly and easily, and I’m able to complete my beauty regimen quickly.  There is literally no scent to this serum and it is NOT sticky at all.  When applied to the skin, it soaks right in without issue and I love that it is clear.  It literally feels like water against my skin and I LOVE IT!  My skin is very sensitive and I haven’t had any issues with this product. It feels wonderful against my skin.

180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Acid Serums

The 180 Cosmetics Pure Swiss Hyaluronic Serum + Vitamin C (retails for $93.49 – but on sale NOW for $14.98) has 15mL/0.5 oz worth of product (the same as the other serum) and the same type of packaging.  I think the packaging in itself is a huge seller for me on both – I love it.  This serum is formulated with the highest concentration of pure Swiss hyaluronic acid and accelerates skin’s self-repairing process.  It preserves skin’s elasticity and youthful tone and since it is enriched with Vitamin C it helps to smooth your skin making it supple and moisturized.  This serum nourishes the skin and boosts hydration.  I love that it is formulated without Formalin, Formaldehyde, Parabens, Phthalates, Petro-chemicals, GMO, Triclosan and colors or dyes.  This serum is also good for all skin types and worked well on my sensitive skin.

Just like the other serum, it is also clear and has no scent which was a little different for me since most of the Vitamin C serums I have used include a citrus like fragrance.  It’s not sticky at all – though a tad bit thicker than the Oxygen serum… and I mean a tad as it is still liquid like and feels almost like water against the skin.  It soaks into the skin nicely and quickly and feels like nothing at all once the product has soaked in.  Like the Oxygen serum, this one also didn’t last me long with daily use.  I find that I use one in the morning (the Vitamin C serum) and then the Oxygen one at night so it makes the product last longer.  I LOVE that this serum is so easy to work with and makes my beauty regimen smooth and effortless.

At the price that these serums are at right now, I plan to pick up a bunch and back ups since they are on sale.  I have used many many serums over the years and these literally feel so great against my skin – I love it!  Seriously, I don’t often say “love” about any or many products but after just a few uses, I found that this product really has become a favorite and used in combination with other favorites, it has become a love.  The retail price of these serums is pretty hefty so I probably would have a hard time keeping up with the regimen at that cost – but on sale, yes – I would buy it without a doubt.  Since the product itself is very concentrated, a little goes a long way – which helps since the size of the product is a bit on the smaller side.  I also love a product that works instantly and really brightens up my complexion while helping to keep my dry skin moisturized.  Overall – I definitely suggest these serums, in a heartbeat.  And, this Hyaluronic Acid addict thinks is awesome!

Happy Wednesday. Hope you are all having a great day.

I am thankful that I don’t have puffy under eyes… though I’m constantly cautious and on my game because puffy under eyes or eye bags run in the family on my dad’s side.  Let’s face it, with everything on the market today – there has got to be a product that I know will help combat this issue and prevent it from happening.  Because of this issue that may be in my future, I use eye creams and gels and love to wear under eye patches to help keep my under eyes moisturized, tighter, brighter and smoother.  Over the last few weeks I have been using under eye patches from Beneleaf Anti-Aging Skin Care.  I have never heard of this brand prior to trying their products, but I think this will definitely be a household name in my home.  When it comes to a Collagen Eye Mask – under eye patches, it is important that you find one that works and feel comfortable on.  Here are my thoughts on this product.

Beneleaf Anti-Aging Skin Care Collagen Eye Masks - Under Eye Patches

Beneleaf’s Collagen Under Eye Masks retail for $24.99 (on sale now for $19.99) and come in a pack of five masks.  These patches are made from a proprietary material called Hydrogel which is identical in structure to our skin cells.  Once they come in contact with skin, the cells immediately begin to pull in all the nutrients from masks into the deepest layers of the dermis.  Immediately after applying the masks, I felt like my under eyes were quenched and hydrated and I loved it!

The collagen masks include a unique blend of proven ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid (a favorite skin care product of mine), power antioxidants and peptides which result in tighter, brighter and smoother skin around the eyes.  After the first use, I felt like my skin under my area definitely became brighter and didn’t feel as dry as it can be.  What I love is that these are just so easy to use and leave absolutely no mess behind.  The results last for days and I usually will use one once a week.

Beneleaf Anti-Aging Skin Care Collagen Eye Masks - Under Eye Patches

These masks do not stick and stay in place and do eventually start to slide if you are not laying down.  So I normally apply them and then lay in bed with a magazine or get caught up on my favorite shows.  As you can see from the photo above, they will start to slide down your face if you are not laying flat.  It doesn’t bother me though, I like to take the time to really just enjoy 10-15 minutes of relaxation time and will lay down after applying.

How to apply:

  • After thoroughly cleansing your skin, apply each mask under the eye area. (see photo)  The largest part will go nearest to your nose.
  • Allow the mask to sit and work for 10-15 minutes.  Go ahead and lay down and relax.
  • Once the time is up – carefully remove the mask.  You do not need to wash the serum off as it will work as a great treatment and will soak into the skin quickly.
  • Repeat the treatment as needed.  I usually will use one every week or so depending on how my under eyes are feeling.
  • Toss the mask away and you’re good to go till your next treatment.

These masks are suitable for all/most skin types:  Dry, Oily, Normal and Combination skin.  With my sensitive skin I didn’t notice any issues at all and it didn’t cause any flare ups or skin sensitivities.  You will notice that any puffiness and dark circles you may have will be reduced quickly.  I love that my skin feels tight and plump after one use and it’s great that these products do not contain Parabens or Alcohol.

Beneleaf Anti-Aging Skin Care Collagen Eye Masks - Under Eye Patches

If you use this product as I do, a pack of these will last you about a month – I use them once a week as needed.  The product is priced pretty well and I love how soothing it feels under my eyes.  On days where I feel like I had a crazy run around kind of time, I’ll put these on to help me relax and just enjoy the pampering.  There is a light fragrance in these products, one I haven’t quite figured out yet, but it is not overpowering and did not bother my sensitivities to smell.  I love the light cooling sensation these have on my skin and I find that putting the masks in the fridge prior to applying them (for about 30 minutes to an hour prior) makes for a great cool-off session during this hot summer heat.  I definitely recommend these and can’t wait to use more products from this line.

So – what brands do you use for under eye patches?  Have you used something like this before?
