I have been doing really well on my Makeup Spending Challenge (you can read more about it here) so that is why you haven’t been seeing many posts on new cosmetics lately.  However, when I got the email for ColourPop’s Spring release, I literally couldn’t contain my excitement and I couldn’t resist.  I was particularly taken by one of the five shades so I figured I would get at least four for my collection.  Now, if you have been following me a while – you know that when it comes to ColourPop I have quite an addiction – especially for the shadows… so I knew it would be a warranted purchase… lol.

The colors I choose and ordered were:  Luckfully, Wattles, Flower Shop and Belladonna Lilly.  When I seen Belladonna Lily I thought instantly of my friend Beth (Pearlznlacebybeth.com) because she wears that type of shade so nicely and of course, Flower Shop was a love at first site.  Let’s take a deeper look at each shade, shall we?

spring haul, colourpop, colourpop super shock shadows, eye shadow, colourpop eye shadow, flower shop, belladonna lily, luckfully, wattles, spring eye shadow, makeup, beauty, swatches,

Luckfully is a bright cobalt blue with a pearlized finish.  It’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect for deepening out the crease or used all over the lid for a stunning look.  This shadow does stain the lids a little though… so I would suggest using an eye shadow primer underneath and prior to applying the shadow to your eyes lids.

Wattles is described as a dusty beige pink in a satin finish.  I actually think the color reminds me of a dusty rose with a brown undertone… but that’s just me putting in my own input.  This is a gorgeous shadow to use in the crease or as a transition shade and also works well on the lid or blended onto the lower lash line.  It has a gorgeous sheen that looks like it has a bit of shimmer, but not glittery.

Flower shop is my favorite out of the four.  It reminds me of MAC’s steamy, though I would not consider it a dupe, it just reminds me of it.  It is described as a vibrant blue green with a soft gold pearl on top and a pearlized finish.  To me, it reminds me of a mermaid or her tail.  It’s a gorgeous shade of teal and turquoise blend with a gold/silver shift… or at least, that’s my take on it.

Belladonna Lily is a gorgeous pastel shade.  Described as a soft pastel aqua in a matte finish – this shadow would make a great base for Flower Shop or used on it’s own.  It has that pastel but powdery aqua look and feel to it and would be one of those shades perfect for Spring.  Used with Wattles or any of the other shades I picked up, I think this would make a great addition to any eye look this Spring or Summer.

If you are like me and love a great teal shade, I highly suggest picking up Flower Shop.  I have mentioned this quite a few times already, but it is my favorite color out of the four I picked up.  I don’t have any eye looks to share with you at this time, but I cant’ wait to share some with you once I start feeling a little better, so stay tuned for those.

Are you a ColourPop eye shadow addict like me?  Have you seen these shadows and do you plan on picking any of them up?  If so, what shades do you have your eyes on?

Too Faced always comes out with the most eye appealing cosmetics along with show stopping packaging that absolutely sucks me in each and every time.  However, as cute as the packaging is on this particular product, I was really intrigued to get this palette because it included the shades available from the Love Flush Blush collection which I haven’t had the opportunity to get my hands on just yet.  Today I share with you the Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe Palette and my thoughts and swatches on this product.  Just a little note, when I checked the Too Faced site yesterday, this palette was still in stock, but as of this morning, it is labeled Sold Out.

Too Faced Love Flush Blush, Too Faced Love Flush blush wardrobe, blush palette, swatches, review, too faced, cosmetics, makeup, blush, face products, cheeks, product review, beauty,

The Too Faced Love Flush Wardrobe ($36.00) includes 6 gorgeous blush shades that are long wearing, fade proof, smudge proof and keeps your cheeks perfectly flushed for up to 16 hours.  This palette includes high impact shades that will provide a pretty pop of color an any skin tone.  Each blush applies to the cheeks easily and is very pigmented providing color that is show stopping.  The shades include a range of nudes, pinks, corals and berries so each tone of blush you could need is included in this selection.  The blushes have a net wt. of 2.0g/0.07 oz each which is quite a bit considering the price point for the whole palette.  If you were to buy these shades individually (as they are sold on the site) it will cost you $26.00 each blush so the palette is not only convenient but it also offers you great quality and product for the price.  My biggest issue with this palette is not the quality, but that it is listed as a limited edition product.  I think it would be a great deal if it was permanent.

The packaging is really nice.  The palette is much larger than I thought it would be which gives you a great amount of product for the price.  But I also enjoy that it comes with a mirror which makes this perfect for travel.  Each blush is housed in a cute heart shape with the Too Faced logo imprinted on it (with use that will eventually disappear) and the names of each blush are posted right below the pan which make it easy for reference.

The blush shades work well layered together and that is how I have been using them over the last several weeks, though Love Hangover has become my favorite of the set and one I find I’m using consistently.  The shades in the palette include:  Love Hangover, Baby Love, I Will Always Love You, How Deep is Your Love?, Justify My Love and Your Love is King
Too Faced Love Flush Blush, Too Faced Love Flush blush wardrobe, blush palette, swatches, review, too faced, cosmetics, makeup, blush, face products, cheeks, product review, beauty,
While Baby Love is a bit light against my skin and sometimes does not show up, it makes a great base and blending shade for sheering out a color that may be too bold for me – like Your Love Is King.  Ultimately, I’ve been able to get great use out of this entire palette and I’m so glad I decided to pick it up before my Makeup Spending Challenge began.  It’s a great little palette that includes 6 of Too Faced Popular blushes so I think it’s a great buy overall.  I wasn’t immediately intrigued with the single Love Flush Blushes and I think it was just meant for me to wait a while because this baby was released for me to try them all.
Each of the blushes have really nice pigmentation, so when applying them (especially the deeper and brighter shades) I suggest a lighter hand or a fluffier brush so you are not packing color onto your cheeks.  Since there is so much color that comes off – honestly, a little of the blush goes a really long way.  I love that these blushes are long wearing.   I wouldn’t say that it last 16 hours since I don’t wear my makeup that long normally.  But, after applying in the morning, by late afternoon and into the evening, I notice that I still have remnants and a hue of the color left on my cheeks.  That is great since many blushes wear off on my skin in a matter of a few short hours.  I definitely think these offer long wear in comparison to blushes I have used in the past.

I am using the Love Flush Blush in Love Hangover on my cheeks in the look above.  That color lasted on my cheeks all day and into the evening.  I truly enjoy how these blushes work so well with my skin tone as many times I do not use certain blushes because they can cause my skin to look too white or too ashy.  These worked so well – I’m loving them.  For a GRWM style video as well as a look at the products used in that look, click here.
The packaging is just absolutely cute and adorable as is most and anything that Too Faced offers.  I love the details and how sweet and feminine it is but I also enjoy the fact that it really is sturdy.  As I mentioned before, if you are one who loves to travel with your blushes, I think this would make a great companion.  Everything seems nicely compact and sealed in its packaging well.  Even after I have dropped it many times, I didn’t notice any chipping or breaking which is a huge plus.

I’m bummed to see that this palette is sold out online after just seeing it in stock yesterday.  I’m hoping that Too Faced will restock it soon or make it permanent.  As I mentioned above, this palette includes shades that Too Faced already offers in the Love Flush Blush collection so if there is any particular color you are interested in or want to have as a single, you can find those available on the website.
Head on over to my YouTube channel and check out the video I have talking about the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette and this one – the Love Flush Blush Wardrobe – here.
Overall – I really enjoy this palette, a lot more than I thought I would.  Do you own any of the Love Flush Blushes or this palette?  If so, what are your thoughts on it?  If not, is this something you may have your eyes on?  Comment below and let me know.

Valentine’s Day is a holiday filled with soft pinks and sweet kisses and as a tradition, each year I have created a Valentine’s Day look using the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes.  This year I decided I would go ahead and do a “GRWM” Style makeup look that features the newly released Too Faced Bon Bons Palette and add it to my tradition.  “Just Call Me Sweetheart” is a soft and sweet Valentine’s Day look that can be used day or night but it is an easy look to create that features a little pop of pink that’s subtle with a little sexy.  I hope you enjoy this look.  Check out the video below and hang out and talk story as I get ready and create this Valentine’s Day look.

Valentine's Day, OOTD, MOTD, FOTD, Valentine's day makeup look, valentine's day makeup tutorial, soft makeup look, sweet makeup look, beauty, Too Faced Bon Bon,

Creating this look meant it needed to be quick and easy.  From start to finish I say it took me about 25 minutes to complete.  I wanted this to be a wearable makeup look that could be used for day or night.  If you want to spice things up a bit – you could surely add a pair of flirty false lashes to the look to make it a bit more glam, but I opted to go for my mini lashes (natural lashes) and the look was complete.  To create this look I used the following products:

  • Eye brows:  Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil and Taupe Brow Powder set with BDB Brow Gel
  • Eye shadow base / primer:  Milani Eye Primer
  • Eye shadow palette – Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, shadows used:  Divinity (all over the lid from lash line to brow bone), Mocha (transition shade), Molasses Chip (lid), Bordeaux (outer v / outer corner and lower lash line), Dark Truffle (used to deepen the outer corner), Totally Fetch (lower lash line blended with Bordeaux), Satin Sheets (inner corner highlight), Divinity and Cashew Chew (brow bone highlight)
  • Mascara:  Essence Get Big!  Lashes Volume Boost in Waterproof (black)
  • Eyeliner:  Milani Kohl Kajal Eyeliner
  • Foundation:  PUR Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation in Tan (I don’t use foundation normally, but I’m trying this one out… so if you want, you can opt to go without foundation as I would normally).
  • Blush:  Too Faced Love Flush Blush Palette – Blush in Love Hangover
  • Lips:  Jordana Twist Up Lip Liner in Rock-n-Rose, topped and layered with ColourPop Lippy Stix in Lumiere and Milani Matte Naked Color Statement Lipstick.  Later in the day, I switched up my lips and added ColourPop’s Bumble for all day smooch-proof lips.

When I created this, I wanted this look to be soft with a pop of color so I opted to use fluffy brushes to apply and put down most of the shades on my eyes.  If you really wanted to you could use a more defined brush for precision but I really wanted the eyes to look diffused so each shade was applied using a blending brush except for the lid shade which I used a pretty large eye shadow brush to lay down the shade.

If pink is not your favorite color for the lips, you could opt for a nude lip shade and it would still do very well with the eye look.  Play around with colors and see what you think will work for your skin tone and your overall look.

NOTHING TO DISCLOSE

Yes, it is that time of year when most people create a laundry list of resolutions that not only depress them and make them feel unaccomplished, but also add to the paper clutter.  Let’s face it, I have done it time and time before and about two years ago I decided that instead of the “resolution” route I would aim to have a “goal” or better yet – a challenge.  I am no short of making those “lose weight by Spring” and “save enough money for a trip” resolution people but this year I figured I would change things and focus an important challenge on my makeup spending.  After working on my yearly January Purge of the household items and including my makeup stash, I realized… “Wow – I have a lot of makeup!”  Of course, I knew this information – but when I had it all laid out in front of me, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed and out of breath.  And, I didn’t even spend much on makeup last year – so I couldn’t fathom where it all came from.

Makeup Spending Challenge - The Dreaded No Buy, no spend, makeup haul,

Who needs 50 plus makeup palettes (most of which probably have the same or similar eye shadow shades) and over 200 lipsticks?  Well, up until today – I did, or at least I thought I did.  Each year and several times a year I purge my makeup, but this time it seemed out of control and I was disappointed with myself.  As a blogger, especially one who blogs about beauty products, you can find yourself wrapped up in all the pretty shimmer and sparkle.  Sometimes I’m completely entranced by the new packaging – Too Faced gets me on that every time, or sparkle and shimmer for the eye lid, yup – ColourPop’s to blame for that one.  There are so many reasons why buying makeup is so fun and besides, I’m the only girl in my house and I want to embrace that chic, girly and flirty side that makes me feel feminine.  But, as I pack up a bunch of unused cosmetics that are being donated to the Women’s Shelter and saying goodbye to the makeup I’m handing over to friends and family, I am starting to realize that “Enough is enough!”

“Whether I’m wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I’m always the same person inside.” – Lady Gaga

I literally can hear the lady at my local Sephora sobbing in tears as I am typing my revelation, hahaha! Don’t get me wrong, I will still purchase makeup if I feel like it’s something I’ll need – like Mascara, that’s something you use up and throw out after a few months.  Or, if it’s something I really want.  But, I won’t be stalking ColourPop’s Instagram page and Urban Decay’s Facebook waiting for the next release to feed my addiction as a makeup lover.  As a blogger who writes about beauty products, this may be a challenge, but I will be smart about it and make it work!

Now let’s be honest and real for a minute.  Committing to not buy any makeup for the entire year of 2016 is literally like saying I won’t eat pizza – which is my favorite food and impossible.  But I can be realistic and do it in waves.  So I think my challenge will be to break up the challenge into quarters – every three months.  This way it will allow me to reflect every couple of months on how the challenge is going and what needs to be done to accomplish my goal.

makeup challenge, makeup addict, no buy, no spend challenge,

I’ll be taking part in this challenge with my friend Beth from Pearlznlacebybeth.com.  Together we will encourage one another to stick to our goal/challenge and keep one another on track.  We each agreed that we would build a wishlist of items that we’ve had our eyes and minds set on (we’ll list it here in our posts) and do our best to keep to it. Each quarter we will update and make a new post outlining what we spend on makeup purchases and what we bought. This way we are not quitting cold turkey but will not buy frivolously.

My wishlist of items:

  • Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette
  • Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
  • Too Faced Sweet Hearts Bronzer
  • Too Faced Sweet Hearts Blush – peach

Pretty much everything listed right now is from Too Faced Cosmetic’s Spring and Summer Collections for 2016.  I may add or delete some products but the goal of this is to stay within the lines of what my wish list is and not buy on a whim.  I will also purchase eye liners and mascaras since I go through those very quickly.   Should other releases or other products become available, I may add to this list, but again – it’s about keeping it all under control and not buying “just because”.  Each quarter I will stop in and update with a post that  states what I may have purchased and if I did buy any of my wishlist items.  My friend Beth and I will each do this together to not only be a great support, but to help challenge one another.

What’s not included:  Sponsored Products, Press Samples, Gift Cards or Gifts and The Basics

It’s obvious that as a blogger I receive Press Samples and samples as a part of Sponsored posts.  Since these are sent to me and I do not pay for it out of my own pocket, they are not counted or included.  Gift Cards or gifts will not be counted since they were provided to me as a gift.  The basics include my mascara, eye liners and other things that I use consistently, repurchase often and most the time are drugstore or affordable.  Each quarter I will list any purchases I have made that are not a part of my wish list as well as the cost of each.  This will help me keep a running tally of how much I’m spending as well as allow me to keep motivated.

Some may be asking what this may mean for the blog?  Well, everything will be the same.  Well, if you read my post “This Life I Love“, then this challenge will be absolutely perfect because it will also challenge me to focus my blog on all the things I love, not just makeup.  I consider that a win win!  So what about you, will you be joining myself and my friend Beth on our Makeup Spending Challenge journey?  If you do, be sure to comment on each post letting us know how you plan to accomplish your goals and how you did each quarter – we’ll be very excited to see.  Wish us luck!

Also – be sure to stop by my friend Beth’s blog (click this link) to read about her Makeup Challenge and her wishlist.
