I have been using Hask Beauty hair care products off and on now for about two years and it’s one of my favorite hair product lines.  Let’s face it, with my full head of very long hair I need products that are good and affordable since I can use a lot of it.  One of my favorite lines from Hask Beauty is the Argan Oil line of products.   Since I have been using this line consistently over the last two years off and on with some of my other favorite hair care products, today I’m going to share with you my thoughts and some information.

Hask Beauty - Argan Oil Products

There are four different products available in the Hask Argan Oil line.  Each product is not only affordable but also easy to get your hands on because you can find them at a variety of stores as well as online.  I just love the look of the line’s packaging because the colors just pop and stand out and the products itself are really good.

Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo – This product is developed to help strengthen and restore your hair.  It is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol and artificial colors.  It’s infused with argan oil and penetrates the hair shaft to offer your hair a gentle cleaning while it repairs damage and breakage.  I love this shampoo.  It is just the right texture for my hair allowing me to saturate the areas I want to get clean.  It has a light lather, but not as much as you would get with traditional shampoos.  My hair feels so soft and looks really shiny after using this product.  I love that I can use it on my color treated hair without issue and it never leaves my hair feeling dry or rough.  If I had to for any reason use this product on its own without conditioning, I like that my hair still feels moisturized and it helps with my frizz, keeping it at bay.  I can’t say that it has necessarily repaired my hair, but I do notice I do not get as much breakage.

Argan Oil Repairing Conditioner – Like the Shampoo, this product helps to strengthen and restore.  It is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol and artificial colors.  This conditioner helps to revive and restore the look of your hair.  It’s infused with moisturizing argan oil and penetrates the hair shaft leaving your hair soft, while detangling your hair.  It helps protect against damage and breakage and helps with frizz.  I have tried MANY conditioners and this is one of my favorites.  I wish that Hask made this size bottle larger since I use a lot of it.  This product has some nice slip to it… which makes it easy to detangle my hair while wet in the shower and I can comb through my hair with my fingers with ease.  My hair seems to give off that “aaaahhhh” feeling after my hair is rinsed of this product because it is always nicely moisturized after leaving my hair soft with minimal to no frizz and very shiny and silky.  I love that I can use this on my color treated hair with minimal color bleed in the shower.  One note however is when I use this product since it makes my hair so silky and soft, my curls tend to be more waves than curly – it really softens my hair a lot.

Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner – This is one of my favorite products for a deep conditioner.  Just like it’s counter parts, it is free of all the yucky stuff and helps to strengthen and repair.  This treatment comes in a packet which makes it easy for travel or keeping for taking to the gym or throwing in a spare dress bag.  It helps to restore and smooth dry, damaged and chemically treated hair… especially those that are over processed.  With Argan oil unique to Morocco, this product penetrates the hair and split ends to help leave your most damaged hair soft and moisturized with added moisture.  I love this product and use it VERY often because it is so affordable and my hair drinks it up.  For some it may not be a thick enough deep conditioner for their hair because my hair just drinks it up that sometimes I feel I need the whole pouch on my head at a time.  Other days I can split the pouch in half and save for another treatment.  I have slept in this mask with towel over my head and it seems to work nicely.  If my hair is really dry for any reason (like winter months) I love this mask because I can use it each time I wash my hair without worrying about my scalp or hair getting too oily but still have my hair very moisturized, soft and silky.  This deep conditioner has nice slip to it and works through my hair great and I can detangle with it on my hair as well.

Argan Oil Shine Treatment – I have also enjoyed this hair treatment.  I put it on my hair when it is damp or even on days when wet or dry to help combat frizz and lock in moisture.  The little vial lasts a really long time and a little goes a long way.  Again, strengthens and restores like the other products and free from all the junk stuff we don’t want in our hair.  This oil is lightweight which I love because I can use it on the crown and near the roots of my hair without worrying that it will weigh my hair down or get too oily too fast.  It’s alcohol free and absorbs so quickly into my hair.  My hair is frizz free, soft and so manageable when I’m using this product.  Since Argan Oil is rich in essential fatty acids, this product penetrates the hair to restore shine and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and shiny.

I can’t stress enough how much I enjoy this line.  Again, it’s affordable which is a huge plus but offers great care for your hair at a fraction of the price you would get from salon brands.  I also love that I can find it at my local stores here so repurchasing this product over the last two years has been a breeze.  I love the smell of each of the products in this line… a sweet but not over powering scent is left on my hair – hubby loves it too.  My hair always feels soft, moisturized and looks so shiny and silky when I use this line and I really like it.  If I had to make one little notation, it is that I find my curls tend to be on the softer side – more wavy than coiled when I use these particular products, which is not necessarily a bad thing but I figured I would mention it.  And, sometimes my hair is so soft, that a standard pony tail holder / rubberband will not stay in my hair with two twists, it will fall right out – which is not the norm for me.  I love the line nonetheless and definitely suggest it.  If I had to make one suggestion to Hask, it would be to ‘Please come out with a Coconut Oil line… I would absolutely love it and my hair would too.’

Sometime last year I posted here on the blog about the Michael Todd Soniclear and recently Michael Todd Soniclear Elite was released.  Available in fun colors and designs, the Soniclear Elite is the “Game Changer” for sensitive skin.  I have been using the original Soniclear cleansing brush on my body and was super excited to have been given the opportunity to review the newer version.  Today I will share my thoughts with you on the Lavender Lust Soniclear Elite from Michael Todd.

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

Let’s face it – cleaner skin begins with a cleaner brush and one of the reasons why I enjoy the Soniclear Elite.  With my sensitive skin and Eczema flare ups – I need to ensure that I am using an exfoliating and cleansing tool that is not only gentle, but also helps protect against microbial contamination.  While my skin is too sensitive to use the Soniclear Elite daily – I still know that I will get a good clean and scrub-a-dub when I need it and once a week works well in combination with my favorite skin care products.  The complete sonic powered cleansing system has a built in protection against microbial contamination and a C-Boost Collagen Technology.  The optional collagen boosting operating mode helps to deliver pulsating massage to assist in stimulating collagen & elastin production for a more youthful looking skin.

What I love about the Michael Todd Soniclears (Elite included) is that they can be used for the body or face with interchangeable heads that you can use for different sections whether you choose for body or face.   Each kit comes with a Soniclear Elite Device with C-Boost, Charging Cradle, 1 Facial Brush head with cover, 1 body brush head with cover and your charging cord so you have everything you need to get started.  The Soniclear Elite can be used on all skin types, though I will say that your usage depends on your sensitivities.

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

The Soniclear has a built in LIFE antimicrobial product protection that helps to keep the brushes cleaner and longer – the first brush of its kind in the industry.  Other traditional sonic cleansing systems don’t provide this level of protection which is why I’m a huge supporter of the product and brand.  I use my Soniclear Elite a few times a week on my body and face (switching out the brush heads as needed) and my Foreo Luna in the interim.  Each work well in my skin care regimen and work together to help keep my skin clean and clear.  Soniclear has an advanced sonic wave technology that cleanses the skin gently yet thoroughly with more than 18,000 micro-massage movements per minute, offering six cleansing speeds and two operating modes that let you customize your cleansing experience to your skin’s specific concerns.

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

Each Soniclear has set in its handle soft touch buttons that make control and power on/off functions easy.  The unit itself is completely waterproof so I love that I can use it in the shower or tub without worrying about issues of it damaging or otherwise and I especially love that when using on my body, I don’t have to worry about it breaking down on me.  The unit has soft, rubberized hand grips with make it easy to hold – even with soapy/slippery hands and the large body brush works so well in getting in all the places to scrub my body clean.

Like with any type of electrical unit or device, you will need to charge your unit completely for the first 24 hours prior to use.  After using the brush heads, be sure to store them in their included cover to keep them clean while not in use.

If you use cleansing tools to remove your makeup for that “squeaky clean” you will enjoy this particular product.  I hardly use face or foundation products, but I have used this to remove face makeup when I was wearing it and it removed the product easily and left my skin feeling really clean and exfoliated.  What I love is that when cleaning the brush head after removing dark face products or makeup – the brush head gets really clean.  With a little bit of my face cleanser, I clean the brush head with ease leaving it white and pretty again – unlike other products similar that leave that funky yuck of a residue behind.  Of course, if you are someone that uses foundation daily – I’m not sure if it will clean just as well… but I always feel like my brush head is very clean for my next use – which is a huge plus for me.  Who wants to put funky grime on their face anyway?  Certainly not me!

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

I love the Soniclear Elite as much as I did the original Soniclear – but just as the first, I am unable to use it daily due to my sensitive skin or my Eczema will flare up or my skin will have a bad reaction.  I don’t necessarily attest this to the product itself as any of my cleansing tools cannot be used daily even if meant specifically for skin sensitivity.  It is an added bonus that it has a great antimicrobial benefits as other cleansing brushes did not and because of this, the germ-a-phobe in me didn’t like those.  I particularly like to use this product on my body because it works well for what I need and after shopping the Michael Todd site, I’m looking forward to picking up all kinds of attachments and add-ons to make this product more useful and beneficial for my needs.

I have tried many cleansing brushes over the last few years and this is still one of my favorites.  What about you?  What do you currently use to scrub-a-dub for a squeaky clean?  To find out more about the Soniclear Elite or other Michael Todd products – visit: http://www.michaeltoddusa.com/

Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year because it allows things to cool off here in Hawaii and I can wear my cozy and warm fashion favorites that I love so much.  Besides scarves and slouchy sweaters, another favorite for me is hats or beanies.  Let’s face it – anything that will keep my full head of hair in place without sacrificing style is a plus and I’m all about keeping the ears warm as the months get colder.  Today I share with you a simple plus sized outfit featuring a beret from Scala Pronto.  If you love Fall fashion as much as I do, hopefully I can introduce you to some really cool ideas for this season’s wardrobe.

Fashion Friday - Plus Size Casual Fall Outfit

This slouchy beret from Scala Pronto is fashionable, chic and totally flattering.  I have a larger head size than most people and found that this beret fits easy and comfortably as well.  The collection is affordable, retailing for $32 and available in grey or oatmeal (what I’m wearing).  Slouchy hats just scream Fall and Winter and are so fashion forward.  It’s one of those accessories that has literally stood the changes in trend and attire over the years and paired with your favorite Fall outfit, you will be ready to take on your day.

Top – Black Plus Size Scoop Neck Tee from Torrid

Pants – YMI Jeans Plus Luxe Skinny

Footwear – Steve Madden Heaven Leopard Ballet Flats

Watch – Invicta Silver & Gold Divers

I chose to wear my Tartan Scarf like a wrap – but they go wear if wrapped around the neck like an infinity scarf or swooped around once and hanging long.  While I chose to wear flats today (it’s still too warm for boots), my normal choice in footwear would be a pair of boots – it’s a staple for me this time of year.  Pair this look with fun accessories like your favorite bracelets or necklaces and you have a showstopping outfit.  There is nothing wrong with a casual look – this is mine.

When it comes to Fall fashion – I literally live in cozy and comfy.  Let’s face it, I live in Hawaii where the weather is warm year round, so I look forward to the cool, crisp Fall air.  I practically live in Skinny Jeans and slouchy sweaters and I love pairing those key elements in my wardrobe with fun accessories that make a statement.  Slouchy looks are so on trend for Fall and Winter and Scala Pronto has satisfied that with their well made Beret.  I can’t wait to get my hands on the grey one and rock that out too.

I can’t believe Halloween is just a few short weeks away and I’m a bit stressed that I haven’t started on any makeup looks yet.  I figured I would share some of my past Halloween Makeup Creations with all of you since many of them were posted on old blogs and hopefully spark a little inspiration and creativity for my looks this year.

Halloween Makeup Tutorials - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

Hawaiian Mermaid.  This look took a little while to create, but it was fun and I enjoyed it.  I am using pigments/mineral eye shadows to create this look, which I’m proud of since the shadows and lipstick were created by me when I owned my own Indie Cosmetic Company.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

When creating a mermaid look – you can decide how much or how little you want to go and I opted for a dramatic look.  I really think that the contacts I used made such a big difference in how it all came out for me.

Halloween Makeup Tutorials - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

Masquerade Mask – I really enjoyed created this look a few years ago.  The object of this look was to use makeup to create a mask on my face instead of using a real one.  I loved how it turned out and how simple it was to create.  If you’re looking for a last minute costume, this can work in a pinch.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

The Crazy Creepy Doll – This Halloween Makeup look will remind you of your childhood play things.  So cute and sweet with a little twist.  This doll has come back to play and haunt you.  I had so much fun creating this look and doing the intro for the video which you can find here.  As sweet and cute as she looks, she’s here to make your life miserable.  Creating this look is simple – just do up your makeup with soft shades and then add some accessories that will make it scary.  If you are planning to use a knife or similar, makeup sure that you have a fake or plastic toy one for going out in public.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

Sexy Glamour Kitty is one of my favorite looks created over the years.  It’s simple and with a little cat ears or leopard ears and some creative thinking, you can easily have a look for Halloween that is fun and fast to do.  A gold smoky eye, bold vampy like lips and leopard spots – the look came together quickly and easily.  This look was so popular it was featured on many sites, including Ipsy and you can find the tutorial for this look here on my old YouTube Channel.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

What makes this Leopard Kitty looks so easy is that you can pull accessories like your favorite jewelry or wear that little black dress you love and a pair of sexy heels and the look will come together easily.  Leopard ears are so easy to find and cost just a few dollars, so you have a quick costume that’s affordable to create.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

Poison Ivy – This look was never fully completed for a tutorial, but something I threw together to utilize the red wig I had.  I simply just drew vines with makeup and eye liners on my face, added green around the eyes and put in a pair of green contacts.  The look came together quickly and easily.  If you wanted to really make this look more realistic, adding ivy leaves as a crown or similar would make this look complete.  When and if I should complete this look to where I wanted it to go, I will be sure to post an update.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

This look is simple and you can use what you already have on hand.  A red wig can also be purchased reasonably priced and you can add a long skinny black dress or tights with this look to finish it off and make it show stopping.

Halloween Makeup - A Round Up of Past Looks I've Created

Sugar Skull – Dia de los Muertos Day of the Dead is one of my favorite looks that I have created over the years.  I created this look using different cosmetic products – even the white face was created using the lightest color foundation I had in my kit.  This look is one of my favorites because it allows you to be creative in your own and the designs never are set in stone – you can do whatever you choose.  The tutorial for this look can be found here.  I hope to create another version of this look this year utilizing different colors I’ve been wanting to try out.

Bonnie parker 7

Bonnie Parker –  Bonnie & Clyde:  This look was not done necessarily for Halloween.  I created it as a part of the Bonnie & Clyde Movie Release and thought this was such a great one to share.  It’s simple, easy to create and one of my favorites.  With a soft smoky eye and a deep red lip – you are good to go.

Bonnie parker 3

Of course, props work when creating a look – so I opted for what we already had on hand… and make sure that you are not using a real gun while out in public.  This look is still one of my favorites and the eye and lip look is something I’ve developed into my own and use often.

OITNB Sophia Burset

Sophia Burset – Laverne Cox, Orange is the New Black – the complete look and tutorial can be found here.  This look was inspired by Orange is the New Black – which has become one of my favorite shows.  Simple to create and easy to rock out.  Creating a nice eye look, berry lips and putting on some scrubs will make this look complete.  Don’t forget your plastic fork to comb your hair with.

orange is the new black sophia burset thumbnail

Celebrity looks are easy to create and Halloween is all about a little fun and creativity anyway.  The options are endless and there is so much you can do with makeup alone – even if it means a simple smoky eye.

halloween makeup forest nymph

Queen of the Forest Nymph – If you shop through my Halloween Stash, you’ll see I have my fair share of fairy wings and this is why.  One of my favorite things are fairies and when I created this look, I wanted to really have something that I loved represented.  Tutorial can be found here.  This look is easy to create and really just takes a little imagination.

Queen of the Forest Nymphs

What makes whimsical creatures so fun to create for Halloween is that they are all about your imagination and what you can come up with.  I wanted this Forest Nymph look to really stand out as someone in nature and by adding greens and gold I was able to really create that look that I was shooting for.

Dark Alice in Wonderland

Dark Alice – Alice in Wonderland:  This look was fun to create.  I went for a gothic / dark vibe to create this look and all I did for the eyes was create a deep vampy makeup look and added black lips.  If you are really stumped for a costume, something like this is really simple and easy to do.  A full list of products used and tutorial can be found here.

Twilight Autumn Woodland Faerie

Twilight the Autumn Woodland Fairy – a full list of products and tutorial on this look can be found here.

Once Upon a Time Regina the Queen

Regina The Evil Queen – Once Upon a Time:  Quite possibly one of the favorites I have done over the years.  This look is simple and I pulled out some of the clothes I already had as well as a crown and cape and then created the makeup to look that the character’s.  This look was so fun and I enjoyed filming the intro for the makeup tutorial as well which I think really made it one of the most favorite videos I have created.

Amazing Spiderman

Amazing Spiderman inspired – This look was all about the colors and using them as inspiration for the eye look.  The creepy spider on the cheek, well – that’s just the webbing on the cake… lol

Halloween Skull Makeup

Skull Mask – This look was my last minute creation for last year’s Halloween Day look.  I’m not gonna lie… I did my eye makeup and realized I didn’t want to take it off or ruin it so I decided to plan my costume around it.  Hey, it worked… it had the scare factor, but was a show stopper.

Halloween is about having fun and being creative and of course, all the candy you collect (thankfully I can still take part in that with my sons).  Each year I enjoy creating looks that are either simple or unique and I wanted to share them with all of you.  As a child my family didn’t have much money and I learned that by taking the tools we already had and a little creativity and we could have fun and awesome costumes.  I’m very thankful that my parents instilled this into me, because I teach my children that same concept.

I hope to have some Halloween looks posted for all of you soon – I’m working on some ideas.  In the meantime, I thought I would share some of my past ones and all the fun I had over the years.  Have fun and enjoy yourselves, no matter the age and you will have a grand time.  What are you doing this Halloween?  Do you have a costume in mind?  Which of my past Halloween looks are your favorites?

After years of being a makeup artist, I have accumulated quite a huge collection of makeup brushes.  Over 200 and still counting, when I see a great deal on brushes that look like they will work – I will buy them in a heartbeat.  A couple of weeks ago while cruising through our local TJ Maxx, I stumbled upon a display with eye and face brushes from BH Cosmetics.  I didn’t know that the brand sold in select stores, so I was intrigued and decided to pick the eye set up.  Just a few days prior, I had seen an advertisement through the brand on their site for this particular set so I couldn’t resist seeing that it was not only a bit cheaper but I also didn’t have to pay for shipping.  Picking up the BH Cosmetics 7 Piece Eye Essential Brush Set was a no brainer and after using it a few weeks, I figured I would share it with you today.

BH Cosmetics 7 Piece Eye Essential Brush Set

The BH Cosmetics 7 Piece Eye Essential Brush Set retails on bhcosmetics.com for $18.00 (though currently on sale for $12).  While that is already a pretty good deal for a set of 7 brushes, I found it at my local TJ Maxx for $9.99.  The set includes 7 brushes that will help you line, define, shade and blend your shadow for a complete eye look.  The set is made up of synthetic and natural hair brushes which give you a range of brushes to create your looks.

BH Cosmetics Halloween Makeup

Right out of the box, these brushes are all sleeved individually in plastic.  Each of the brushes are really nice and soft which is a huge plus.  The handle and ferrule seem to be nicely made and the ferrules on each of the brushes are in place, no wiggling or shaking so they are set in nicely.  This set comes with gold ferrules and gold labeling which is also really pretty and the number of each brush is printed on the handle.  After cleaning the brushes twice over the last couple of weeks, I noticed minimal shading to none – they held up well to aggressive washing and scrubbing and drying time with these were reasonable.

BH Cosmetics 7 Piece Eye Essential Brush Set

Some of the brushes – specifically for the eye shadow are a little softer than I would like and not as dense which can be beneficial for blending but may take some time to actually pack the color on.  I had wished this set had a dense, round eye shadow brush that would allow me to apply the shadow much more precisely – but considering the price point, I can make it work.

This set includes the following brushes:

101 – Blending Brush:  This brush is perfect for blending shadows in the crease, blowing out your colors so you have a soft and blended look.  This brush can also be used as an all over color applicator and to apply your highlight shade.  It’s very fluffy and has a lot of movement, but due to the tapered tip – you can still get precision in your crease if you desire.

102 – Large Shader Brush:  This brush is synthetic so you can use it to apply your favorite cream products, bases or what I’ve been using it for is my ColourPop shadows.  It also works as an all over shader brush to pack color onto the lid.

103 – Small Shader Brush:  This is a natural hair brush which is very soft and fluffy for a shadow brush.  This will work double duty to apply color but also blend.  While I can make it work and do enjoy it – I wish there was a brush similar to this – but more dense and less fluffy.

104 – Angled Blending Brush:  This soft and fluffy natural hair brush is perfect for applying color to the outer v and blending effortlessly.  This brush is very fluffy so it takes a light hand to apply color precisely but works well for blending.  Using the very tip of the brush to apply color on the lower lash line works well too.

105 – Pencil Brush:  This brush is one of my favorites from the set.  It’s soft enough to run near your eyes or on the sensitive parts of your eyes to smoke out a look, but still dense enough to pack the color on your lids or to apply precision color in the crease, etc.  This brush has easily replaced my MAC 219 for my smudged looks.

106 – Fine Liner Brush:  This brush is a bit thicker than what I would like for a liner brush but it works really nice with my gel liners and works well for smudging liner on the lash line.  I wish it was a little more dense to allow for better precision, but at the end of the day – I can still use it to get the job done.

107 – Small Angled Brush:  This angled brush is a little softer than what I’m used to when working with similar brushes, but it works.  A synthetic brush, this works pretty good with my gel liner or with gel products for brows, though it is a bit soft and can lack a little precision.  At the end of the day – it works, though it may take a little finesse when using since the bristles are soft.

BH Cosmetics 7 Piece Eye Essential Brush Set

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a lot more impressed with these brushes than I thought I would be.  Like I mentioned several times, you can’t beat the price point… it’s affordable and you get most of the brushes you will need to create an eye look.  While these are not “high end” quality – they would definitely be perfect for someone who is a beginner with makeup or even a veteran as myself, because at the end of the day – they work.

Have you tried any brushes from BH Cosmetics before?  If so – what are your thoughts on them and if not, do you see these in your future of brush hoarding? lol
