No Heat, No Tools, Beachy Boho Curls

I can’t believe summer is here already and that means that I’ll do anything to beat the heat. That also means that while I love to be stylish, I also want to be cool and comfortable. It’s a rare occasion that I add any heat products to my hair and during the summer, that is especially true. I love wearing my hair down but with the heat some products and styles can cause me to feel sticky and yuck so I try to keep it all as simple as possible. I have used many products over the years to create that beachy boho curls look without the fuss of a lot of products or tools and TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done has definitely been a great addition to my style this season. I wanted to share with you an easy style that is not only effortless, it requires absolutely no tools. I hope you enjoy this little tutorial I have for you!

TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done products make it simple for you to do and my short tutorial is great for those on the go.

All You need are 4 products and no heat tools to create this look:

TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Shampoo
TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Conditioner
TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Sea Salt Spray
TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Wave Perfecting Gelee

Now for the steps you need to create these Beachy boho waves. I have naturally curly hair, but find that the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done products add soft hold for all day and give me that beachy sea salt hair that looks like I was playing in the ocean all day. If you have straight hair, I suggest using a styling tool like a curling wand or flat iron – however, I also find that wrapping your hair around your finger or scrunching while adding product will give you a great look with soft beachy waves as well.

Start with washing your hair with the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Shampoo & Conditioner. Dry your hair but not completely. I like my hair to be wet a bit when I apply the other products so that my curls are more defined, but damp and slightly dry hair works best.
When your hair reaches that point of almost dry but still damp I like to spray in the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Sea Salt Spray. I like to spray from my roots, through the mid length of my hair and then finish at the ends. Be sure that if you do not have much volume on the top of your head, do not add too much product so that you do not weigh your hair down. Once you have applied the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Sea Salt Spray – scrunch your hair to give it texture.
If you have naturally curly hair like I do – then I suggest using the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Wave Perfecting Gelee to lightly hold your curls in place. This product will allow you to have movement in your hair, but still offer a light hold to keep your curls defined. If you have straight hair, as you are applying the Gelee, you want to scrunch your hair to give it texture and activate your natural waves. If you have really straight hair, you may need to use the TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Brushable Hold Hairspray instead of the Gelee and wrap strands of your hair around your fingers to create soft waves. You can do this with the Gelee as well but it may not hold as great as the Hairspray does.
Finish the look off with a fun headband. I originally thought about using a floral crown, but was feeling something a little simpler and this stretchy band with iridescent beads was fun, flirty and gave the look a boho feel.

Now your very easy hairstyle is complete so get your beach gear or favorite pool party fashions to style and profile! I like to finish my boho waves and curls with a cute wrap, sarong or pareo and a cute pair of flip flops.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a HUGE watch addiction… so much so that I have more watches than I could ever use in a lifetime and I can’t live without a watch on so I even sleep with my watch. I have my favorite brands, my favorite styles and since I’m someone who spends a lot of time in the ocean, I have my Diver’s watches – but I have absolutely fallen in love with a style that is not only timeless, it’s unique. Not only is each watch beautifully crafted, but they are packaged as show stoppers and each come in a gorgeous wooden box. If the box alone didn’t make a statement for you, the watch enclosed within will surely make your jaw drop. I have owned various watches over the years, from many high end brands and I have to say – Jord definitely takes the cake in packaging because I fell in love with the box before I even seen what was included inside.

Each watch ranges in cost between $129 and $295, the most expensive being the Dover which includes Koa wood. That is what attracted me immediately to these watches since Koa is a prized wood here in Hawaii and I had my eyes on the Dover since the first day I heard about Jord. I received the Sully in Black and Maple which is a gorgeous watch with blond and dark wood. The time piece itself is absolutely gorgeous and retailing for just $139 – this watch makes a great gift for anyone (hint – hint, Father’s Day is just a few short weeks away). Each watch is adjustable and if you provide your size to Jord, they can size your watch for you prior to shipping it out your way.

As I mentioned previously, I have the Sully. The Sully series marries complimentary and contrasting woods giving this watch a vivid and varied tonal effect. It has large face numbers and a cut out bezel to add to that playful and sporty look that you can use on a daily basis, but the watch itself is so pretty that this classically styled timepiece can be worn for any and every occasion.

Each JORD watch is designed to be splash proof, but is not intended to be completely submerged in water. Also, due to the nature of the wood chosen for each timepiece, colors and grain patterns may vary from photos. Just like finger prints – while Jord watches a similar series, they have their own little finger print in the wood grain.

What’s great about JORD watches is that these time pieces are made in the United States and made of quality materials. I love that there really is a watch for anyone – any size and style. I picked a large face watch because I’m all about those large watches and I love dressing this watch up or down and it’s perfect for a casual day of lounging.

While going through my highlighters in my makeup collection the other day, I stumbled upon the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette tucked in the drawer next to my other favorites. It’s absolutely no secret that I love highlighter and this palette has been an absolute game changer for me. Last year my husband purchased it for me as a gift and I continue to use it like it’s liquid gold. As many times as it has been featured in tutorials, I was surprised that I never discussed it or did a full review here, so I decided that I would do that for you today.

I don’t own many things from Hourglass, I have this palette, the blush palette and a few lippies but I truly enjoy them all and I’m glad they are a part of my collection. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ($58 USD) includes three shades of the Ambient Lighting Powders. These high-tech, soft focus finishing powders are used to recreate the most flattering types of light, giving your skin the perfect glow. Available at Sephora and Hourglass Online, this palette was once a limited edition creation and has since been made permanent (woohoo).

So what exactly does this palette and the powders within it do? This groundbreaking collection of finishing powders capture, diffuse and soften the way light reflects on skin. These are different than traditional powders that merely cloak imperfections because the Ambient Lighting Powder utilizes photo-luminescent technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of your complexion. The powders deliver a multi-dimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer and lit from within. This palette of finishing powders enhances skin in any type of light – including flash photography.

Dim Light is a neutral peach beige powder that blurs your imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones.

Incandescent Light is a shade exclusive to this palette. It is an opalescent pearl powder that brightens the complexion with a celestial glow.

Radiant Light is my favorite out of the three and is a sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow.

These gorgeous powders are so finely milled that they feel like silk against the skin. I apply each one with a fluffy brush so that it gives a “kissed with highlight” look upon my cheekbones. But, while that is where I apply it most – I love to literally take these powders and apply all over my face. These powders add a finishing touch to your skin – completing your look and giving you that “effortless” glow.

If you were to purchase any of the Ambient Lighting powders separately – you will pay $48.00 for one (0.35oz Net Wt.) I know that unless I use my powder often or daily, I will never get through an entire compact so the choice to pick up this palette was an ideal one for me. If there are others that I want to try – then I’ll pick them up in full size. There is a lot of powder in each shade included in the palette and definitely a great buy and worth the price.

I have been enjoying this palette the last year since I first got it and it has easily become a must-have and a holy grail product for me. As I mentioned previously – Radiant light is my favorite shade as it looks great against my warm skin offering a subtle “lit from within” glow that looks great on me year round. The other two shades have been getting much use as well. I would suggest this as a purchase to anyone looking to try Hourglass and I absolutely love it.

I’ll be sure to stop back and share with you my thoughts on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette as well – which unfortunately was a Limited Edition. However, my hope is that they will bring it back & make it a permanent part of their line as they did with the Ambient Lighting Palette. We shall see. Fashion Friday – Real Orchid Earrings by Nagasako Designs, Made on Maui

I’ve said this before, but living in Hawaii really does have it’s benefits. From the gorgeous ocean and beaches that are my back yard to the beautiful flora and fauna that surround me, Hawaii is a getaway and paradise and I’m born and raised here. I’m pretty lucky! Maui is also home to many creative talents and I am so glad I was able to check out one for myself. Today I introduce you to Nagasako Designs, made on Maui.

Nagasako Designs on Maui was introduced to me about a year ago and I have been swooning and crushing over her jewelry since. You can find many real orchid earrings online and in various stores, but I am proud to say that this one is made right here on the island where I was born and from the town where I was raised. If you are from Maui, you’ll know that the Nagasako name is one that goes back generations. I had been a frequent customer of Nagasako store as a kid, grabbing my ICEE on hot summer days while cruising the Historic Lahaina streets, so I instantly recognized the name when I was introduced to the brand.

Martina Nagasako – a native to Lahaina, Maui preserves cherished floral memories for many and also creates one of a kind pieces that will absolutely be treasured for years to come. Today I share with you a piece I got for Mother’s Day, the Lavender Orchid Center Earrings ($45.00). I instantly fell in love with these because they looked so unique and of course, because Purple is my favorite color. While these gorgeous gems offer a statement, they are still dainty and feminine which I love. The pair dress up any outfit and fit in so well with the laid back lifestyle I live here on Maui. These earrings are well made with center orchids that are grown, hand picked, designed and glassed in Lahaina. I love that they are on hooks which allow the earrings to dangle freely from the ears and the lavender/grey fresh water pearl makes for a perfect accent on each earring.

Nagasako Designs offers a variety of pieces in different sizes and colors. They are priced reasonably and make great gifts. I stalk the company on Instagram to see new releases as they are rolled out and as I mentioned earlier, no two pieces are alike as each flower is unique. Nagasako Designs also offers preservation of flowers from your Wedding Day or special occasion and are the only preservation floral studio in Hawaii.

While I have a plethora of earrings and pendants on my wishlist, I have my eyes on a set of plumeria and whole orchid earring sets. It item is absolutely gorgeous and so well made that I can’t wait to pick up more.
