Fall is upon us and Halloween just a few short weeks away.  While Halloween is not my #1 absolute favorite holiday, (it’s top 5) it is definitely exciting for me because it means dressing up, fun costumes and that the Holiday Season is soon approaching.  With the spooktacular day on its way I look forward to doing Halloween inspired makeup and while I’m not skilled in nail art – I do enjoy decorating my nails with fun colors and glitter for the season.  In combination with a few of my girlies from The Beauty Council, I bring to you my Halloween Nail Art inspired by Pumpkins, Fall leaves and Halloween.

The Beauty Council

I love simplicity and since I am not blessed with artistic drawing skills on a small canvas (i.e. my nails), I decided I would go with what I knew.  I pulled out my favorite colors for the season, a black striping nail polish and a nail art fimo (which I originally spelled “femo” and my spell check kept saying it was wrong. lol) pumpkin that I had in my collection and worked on my nail design.  Overall, I loved the colors and I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out.

Halloween Gradient Nails

I started with a base shade, using China Glaze’s Cruisin as my base color.  Then I took OPI’s I Knead Sour-Dough on a sponge and dabbed the shade onto the ends/tips of my nails.  I take my time in doing this and then once I apply the brown shade, I add the orange (Cruisin) to my sponge and apply together to blend the colors.

My Accent Nail: For the nail art I used Kiss Brush On Nail Art in black to create my tree, Kiss Brush On Nail Art in Neon Green to add a few Green leaves on the tree and then dabbed Sinful Colors Splatter Spell glitters on parts of the branches.

To finish up the look I added Sinful Colors Splatter Spell Glitters over each of the other nails concentrating the glitter towards the tips of my nails and finished with my Ciate Speed Dry Top Coat.  Easy and peezy – pudding and pumpkin pie. lol

Halloween Gradient Nails

I hope you enjoy this simple design and if you recreate it, I would love to see it.  Since I’m kind of nail art challenged, I think this is easy to create, festive and definitely cute.  Don’t forget to check out the other lovelies in the Beauty Council and their creations – links below 😀

I can’t believe how quickly summer flew by, it seems like just yesterday my eldest son was in the 4th grade and the twins were still home with me and now the house is super quiet during the day and it’s odd to say the least.  With Fall coming about, I wanted to take the time to share with you a round up of my Summer Nail designs and manicures that I have been rocking out during the season.  I’m doing this post and video in collaboration with my friend Beth (PearlznlacebyBethK) so be sure to head on over and check out her video and post as well.

Check out my video slideshow embedded below or click here to watch directly on YouTube.  Scroll down to see all the photos of each nail look.

Sally Hansen

My first manicure from this summer is from Sally Hansen in the color Gilty Party.  This color is absolutely gorgeous and while it looks silver, it has micro shimmers that look almost burgundy pink so it really lends for an interesting shade.

Sally Hansen Rainbow Honey

July 8th, I decided I wanted to use a new polish I had just picked up and paired it with some glitter and sparkle.  On my nails I’m using Sally Hansen’s Color Foil nail polish in Purple Aloy and my accent nail is topped with Rainbow Honey’s Stellar Treat.  I am a huge fan of Rainbow Honey’s glitter polishes and these two lacquers together made a great statement.

Water Color Pastel Nails - Milani

July was all about simplicity in my nail designs and doing a water color styled look is simple and easy to create.  Check out my tutorial here.  I used a combination of Zoya and Milani’s new Color Statement Lacquers to create the look you see here.  The base white is from Zoya in the color Adel (one of my favorite whites) and the rest of the shades are a combination of Milani and Zoya.

Water marbling nail design

When I am unable to choose a color I want to use on my nails, I find that I paint them several different shades and just roll with it.  In July I decided I wanted to test out a few shades from the new Milani Color Statement Lacquers that were recently rolled out.  Since I couldn’t figure out which ones I wanted to wear more… it resulted in me doing a quick water marbling of my nails in different shades.  Not the best look – but hey, it works. lol

Milani Color Statement Lacquers

Milani has seriously wowed me with their new collection and I’ve been loving the glitter polishes.  For this look I’m using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer in Bronze as my base shade and then accent nails are topped with Gilded Rocks and Club Lights.

Milani Color Statement Lacquers Water Color Painting

My Galaxy Inspired nails were probably a favorite of all the nail looks I created this summer.  I used a similar technique to my Water Color nails and you can find the tutorial for this nail look here.  I am using all of Milani’s Color Statement Nail Lacquers to create this look.  Lovely Amethyst as my base shade, Spotlight White, Bombshell, Mint Crush, Pearl-plexed Sheer and Rainbow Prisms.

Milani Color Statement Lacquer

This burgundy red nail look was done as a part of my Regina the Evil Queen look… I did my best to play up the part. lol  (You can watch that tutorial for the inspired makeup look here.) I don’t normally rock out shades in this tone during the Summer months but needless to say you will be seeing this quite often in the fall months.  I am using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer in Enchanting.

Zoya Nail polish

I’m no professional when it comes to nail designs but I think I can pull off the basics pretty okay.  For this nail look I wanted to do something fun and wanted to play off of some polka dots.  As my base shade I am using Zoya’s Shay which is one of my all time favorite nudes.  As my glitter accent nail I am using Zoya’s Cosmo Magic Pixie Polish topped with Ciate’s Speed Dry Top Coat so that it doesn’t have that 3D effect.  For my polka dots and flowers I am using Milani’s Color Statement Lacquers in Spotlight White and Imperial purple.  Super easy to create and fun to wear.

Zoya Jules

In this nail look I couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted to do.  I am using Milani’s Vintage Lace Lacquer and Rainbow Prisms as the tip of my nails.  For my accent nails I decided to do a quick water marble using Imperial Purple and Cupcake Icing all from Milani’s Color Statement Lacquer line.

In this manicure I wanted a nude look with a little sparkle.  I am using Zoya’s Jules and topped it with Maybelline Color Show’s Diamond in the Rough.

So – those are my nail designs and manicures I rocked out for Summer this year.  I am in no way a professional but really enjoy painting my nails to give me a little flirty flare.  I don’t do my makeup with exception to maybe once each week, so I love to have my nails with some extra sparkle to keep it all exciting.  Don’t forget to check out the video if you haven’t already.  Wishing you all a wonderful last few days of your warm summer months. ~xo

Signature Honey

I haven’t done much nail art in what seems like forever… and even if I did do nail art before, what I can do is pretty limited to a small amount of creativity. lol  Watercolor nails are fun to do and a technique I have always loved.  Yesterday while getting ready to paint my nails, I was stumped as to what nail polish I wanted to choose… so I ended up choosing them all.  Now – I’m not “nail art” designer… and I’m constantly learning new techniques if I have the chance, but I always love how these turn out and since it’s summer – I know I’ll be having some fun with my nail polish utilizing this technique.water color nails

To create this nail look I started off with Rainbow Honey’s All Your Base as my base coat and then topped Zoya’s Adel over that – using two coats so that it was a bit more opaque then one coat would offer.  I then took Zoya’s Perrie and dropped a few drops of polish on each nail.  To create the marbleized / water color look, I dipped my nail brush into my nail polish remover and painted over Perrie (the purple shade) so that it kind of mixed in and blended in till I wanted it to be.  Then I dropped on Wet n Wild’s I need a Refresh-mint over the purple, doing the same technique with the nail brush and nail polish remover.  Once I finished with that – I then did the same technique with Cameo from Rainbow Honey.  Once I got it to the look I wanted, I topped my nails with Ciate’s Speed Coat Pro fast dry top coat and let my nails dry.

I will be having a nail polish tutorial coming up with this design on my YouTube channel  It is much easier than people think it is and faster too.

Nail polish

Left to Right:  Rainbow Honey All My Base – Base Coat, Zoya Adel (white), Zoya Perrie (purple), Wet n Wild Megalast polish I Need a Refresh-Mint (turquoise), Rainbow Honey Cameo (neon pink), Ciate Speed Coat Pro (top coat).

If you are looking for ways to add a little color to your nails but certain colors may not mesh well with your skin tone or your liking, this is also a great way to be able to use those colors.

Hope you enjoyed this nail look for the week!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I don’t know how many times I have mentioned here on my blog that my skin is dry and sensitive and I struggle with severe eczema when I have flare ups.  As difficult as it is to find products that will not cause my skin to go crazy on me, it’s a breath of fresh air when I finally do.  I have been using 100% Pure Organic, Raw Unrefined Coconut Oil but since I buy it in bulk, it is difficult to travel with or pack in my purse on days when I need the extra hydration.  While I am not necessarily a “huge” fan of Argan Oil, I have found that it has been a great friend when I need something in place of my holy grail coconut oil.  The Pure Organic Argan Oil from BebeLush has been a favorite of mine over the last month and here’s why.

PRESS SAMPLE
100% Argan Oil BebeLush

I have used quite a bit of different Argan Oils over the last couple of years, seeing as it offers a wide variety of benefits for most people.  While I truly enjoy the benefits it offers, Argan Oil is usually a difficult one for me to use because it causes my skin to have minor blemishes and break outs around my hair line (when applying to my hair) as well as on my face.  After years of taking my skin from what it was in 2011 to what it is now, I was ready to put this Argan Oil to the test to find out if it would offer me great skin benefits or cause my skin to go crazy again.

BebeLush Claims of the product:

100% Argan Oil BebeLush

This Argan Oil is sold by BebeLush on Amazon.com for $35.00 (originally $74.95) for a dropper bottle with 120 ml (4 fl.oz) of product.  The product has a shelf life of 3 years and what I love about the label is that it states when the product was manufactured as well as the Lot Number which allows you to track the product you are using.  I have a ton of different Argan Oils and I love that this product is universal and versatile so it can be used pretty much anywhere and everywhere on the body (face, hair, skin and nails).

This particular Argan oil is quickly absorbed into the skin and hair and does not leave a greasy residue.  While Argan Oils can be pretty strong in scent, this one is not as bad as others I have smelled before and while there is still a scent, it is not as overpowering or strong as I thought it would be.

Pure Organic Argan Oil BebeLush

The oil has a light (almost amber) color to it and is not as thick as other Argan oils I have used in the past.  A little goes a long way – especially if you are using this product on your face.  While I do not necessarily have this product to use on my hair, I did test it out a few times and it works nicely on my hair as well – no break outs on my hair line.  My skin stays hydrated and I love that the bottle is very convenient to throw in my purse for when I’m out and about and unable to take my coconut oil with me.

Pure Organic Argan Oil BebeLush

Overall I’m pretty impressed with the product itself and it has already become a favorite of mine for the month of May.  At the amount of product you receive in each bottle, this product will last you and since it has a variety of uses, it’s well worth the money in my opinion. If you have dry skin as I do, I think you will find that this product helps to hydrate your skin a lot without leaving it feeling like it was rubbed down with oil – which I like a lot.  I have been using this oil on my cuticles as well which tends to be very dry during the summer months and especially since I am full time dishwasher in our house.  If you love Argan Oil I think you will find this particular one to work really well.  While I only used the Argan oil on my hair a few times it did exactly as my other oils have done, hydrated my hair and left my ends moisturized and my hair full of life.  I think this is definitely a product I will continue to use.

I am a purple addict!  Yes – commit me if you must… but it is true and if you have been following my blog at all – you already know this. lol  I have loved purple most of my life, though my mom said my favorite color when I was a little girl was brown – oi… brown.  She said I colored everything in color books brown so she assumed it was my favorite.  Nonetheless, I digress and moved on to bigger and better things. lol  In this weeks mani I wanted to rock out a super simple nail look that was both show stopping but wearable and I needed it to dry swiftly because I was impatient to wait for it set.  So read on for what I used to create my nails of the week.Paradise - Nails of the Week featuring Nubar, China Glaze & Maybelline Color Show

The two purple shades I chose are probably two of my favorites in my entire nail polish collection.  I picked up my first bottle of Paradise (by Nubar) before I even had my twins (over 4 years ago) and the bottle I’m holding in my photo is my third of this shade.  This Duo chrome is absolutely gorgeous and I found that topping it with Maybelline Color Show’s Diamond in the Rough made a great combination.  Of course, anyone that is close to me knows that China Glaze’s IDK is a Holy Grail for me.  I haven’t been seeing it in my local beauty supply stores and I’m a bit worried that it may be only available on Amazon – but I have back ups just in case… because it is my FAVORITE Purple EVER.

Base for nails – Nubar Paradise

Accent Nail – China Glaze IDK

Flakey Topper – Maybelline Color Show Diamond in the Rough

Base Coat – Julep Nail Therapy

Top Coat – Ciate London Speed Coat Pro Fast Dry top coat

I know I’m a purple addict – but purple and gold seriously has stolen my heart.  I can’t help it – I know I’ll be rocking out these nails all spring and summer as I do all year round. lol  What colors will be your favorites for the season?
